Water Buoy

Opis
Quick and dirty edit of Cthullhu's 3MW Wave Generator, made by request.

Meant to look like a cautionary buoy[aceboater.com].

Produces a negligible amount of electricity just to keep the light running. There's no maintenance cost and it should cost $200 to build. Can be found under electricity with the power plants.

Unfortunately there's not much I can do about the model getting all distorted when in the distance. I think it's an issue with the model not having an LoD and the latest version of the game does a poor job of making it's own.

I'll see if I can take a look at it later to get it working. Chances are this is bugged beyond repair since the original I based this off of hasn't updated in nearly 5 years.

Ah, I thought you were saying the game was restricting their placement to the middle of ferry/shipping routes. :P

I've modified it to look less like a weather buoy. My intention was, and still is, to make it look like a cautionary buoy. Generally it should be used to mark areas that vessels need to avoid. From what I've seen they tend to be placed in a line, almost like a fence or wall to keep boats out.

Unfortunately I can't fix the distorted model when you zoom out or move away. I think the model was made before After Dark came out and therefore doesn't have an LoD. Although I'm surprised by how little you need to zoom out before the game switches to it's own LoD model.

Usually along sea lanes, or allowed to move with the ocean currents, and are tracked by satellite (i.e weather buoys) or your version which looks alot like a cross between a channel and weather buoy, both. Still. you can't see it unless you're very close to it, so in that case it's pretty useless LOL. Who needs a buoy within 500 feet of any shore?

Do they actually need to be placed in the shipping lanes? I'll need to look into it when I get a chance. This was just a quick and dirty little alteration of someone else's mod. I haven't updated it since before the first DLC came out.

These look so nice. Too bad they are not functional. No lights, no MW output. They don't even stay in view for more than a few hundred meters. Useless since they need to be plopped out in the shipping lanes

Alright, it should be working now. I must have broke something while messing around with the ModTools UI. Prop positions might be moved a bit since I had to completely restart from Cthullhu's version again. Btw to make the beacon light work it produces a tiny bit of electricity, which kinda makes sense since it does have a solar panel on it anyway. Don't bother hooking it up to your grid though as it probably only makes enough to power a single lightbulb.

I fixed the light at one point, but then they had the little no-power icons over them. They should currently be working.
