Improved Asset Icons

Description
This mod adds or improves the icons for custom assets.

  • Custom assets that do not have icons, but do have Steam Workshop previews will use the Workshop preview as their icon, instead of the default box icon.
  • Custom assets with their own icons that use the default dark-blue focused icon will have their focused icon re-tinted to fit better with the built-in assets.
  • Custom assets that do not have a tooltip image but do have Steam Workshop previews will use the Workshop preview as their tooltip image.

Note that some assets don't even have Steam Workshop previews, so this mod won't be able to do anything for them.

Source code is available on github[github.com].

Update (2015-09-05)
  • Icons are now cached on disk, which should give improved loading times.
  • Tree icons are now patched. Remember, some assets don't have Steam Workshop previews, so will still have the default icon.

Update (2015-09-08)
  • Blurry icons (when not in 1080p) fixed.
  • Implement suggestion by Jonas for manually overriding icons. Place files in the cache directory named <package>.thumb.png and <package>.tooltip.png (or jpg) and delete the cache file to replace the package icon and tooltip with your own pictures. Thumbnails should be 100x100 and tooltip images should be 492x147.
  • Performance improvements.

Update (2015-09-19)
  • Improve resilience when patching icons.
  • Allow skipping of patched icons. If you don't like the look of a patched icon (or if it doesn't work for you), rename the cache file (in e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\IAICache) with .skip after its name (e.g. 12345678.skip). The mod will then skip this icon on the next load.

I’ve had this mod for a really long time but I’ve always had some issues with it. For some assets, parks, buildings, etc, I don’t have the image the mod is supposed to generate or the white cubes. They just are invisible. I have also seen people play Cities Skylines on YouTube with these assets installed and they have images show up. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Maybe only some of the assets are suitable for work, I opened the Department of Defense, and some icons are not visible. When I close the mod, I see it again in the game. Did not notice the author's description, I wasted a little time:steammocking: ... Google Translate

This mod screws with some assets which already have a proper icon.

Dang, works as expected. Big thanks to dev! (macOS 10.11.6 ElCap w/metal support, latest Cities version and many workshop mods).

I'm noob to this game but impressed of it's generous modders! You rock!

If it's not working for you, despite the mod can only use available resources. No resources, no icons. Read the notes.

10hrs trial and moaning may save 10 minutes reading. :steamhappy:

Dang, not working for me anymore. Neither is the alternate, sadly so. Will change to find-it, which helps some.
