This is all in theory. Who's to say you have your hyper in the first place? Not to mention the stats for each of the characters are balanced out with passive effects like tomomo's 6 roll recovery and - defense on yuki (etc).
It's not always about farming wins. Playing passively is actually extremely effective.
Tomomo and Yuki used to demolish pretty much everything but as the game gained more defensive characters those two became less dominant. You're right with Poppo, though.
