Guide on how to disable/mute annoying ads when you join servers, ingame sounds from plugins, and decrease loading times.

How to disable ads playing when you first join a server

This is how to block video ads that servers put on their MOTD page(what you see when you first join a server)

Go to Options>Multiplayer>Advanced>Check "Disable MOTD HTML Mode", the first setting.

What this does is prevents the server from putting a webpage on their MOTD(which would include the ad)

Annoying sounds(such as admin sounds)

What this does is stops the server from downloading sound files, which are unneccesary anyways. This should also help loading times, as you're only downloading map files instead of sound files too.

Options>Multiplayer>Drop-down Menu>3rd option(orange highlight)

But what if I've joined the server before I did this and I still have the sounds?
Go to

, and delete all of the files in that folder. If you click the first one and shift+click the last you will select all of them.
Sub X: for whatever drive you have the game installed on(C: in most cases)

This guide is "out of date" since you cannot disable the MoTD anymore in Fistful of Frags.

There isnt an option like that for me in the menu, do you need to do something else to make it pop up?

Here's another way, which leverages wild cards and so should be more reliable.

1. Install Acrylic DNS Proxy on your Windows PC
http://mayakron.altervista.org/wikibase/show.php?id=AcrylicHome

2. Configure your active Ethernet or Wireless adapter to use 127.0.0.1 for your Primary DNS in your tcp/ip 4 setttings.

3. At the very END of your Acrylic Config File add these entries to your [WhiteExceptionsSection]

[WhiteExceptionsSection]
NAME1=*.pinion.gg
NAME2=*.pinionprizes.gg
NAME3=*.*.gg
NAME4= *.motdgd.*
NAME5= *.ptp22.*

Some of you *may* not wish to use the total block on the gg domain. My view is there will be nothing legitimate/desirable on a .gg server.

After doing this, the ads will try to display but instead they'll just time out - you will be able to immediately just bypass them (hit Go), and start playing.

Unfortunately this also disables viewing the rules on many servers. So many times people on my server break the rules because they have HTML MOTD disabled. I believe it's off by default these days? I know voice chat is (which is silly, cos I never know who can hear me). I think the download type defaults to map only, too.

X: will be whatever drive you have it installed on
