DSF8 Duchessa II-E

Description
Drone Support Frigate (ion engine variant), with docking connectors for 8 drones (or here for mod-free versions) and control stations to operate 4 simultaneously. Upgrade of the Duchessa.

IHydrogen-engined variant also available

  • 1,730,000 kg
  • 8 small reactors
  • Jump drive with 1,449 km range
  • 10 batteries
  • 12 solar panels
  • Pressurised cabin with airlocks
  • Medical room
  • 3 cryo chambers
  • Cargo access from inside cabin
  • 4 refineries, each with 4 productivity modules
  • 8 assemblers, each with two productivity modules
  • 4 large cargo containers
  • Hydrogen tank
  • All objects named for easy searching
  • Fitted with remote control and six cameras

There's space in the cabin for LCDs, and space above the hangar/cabin for timers or programmable blocks as required.

No mods required.

  • Replaced large reactor with 8 small - with recent battery changes, power is sufficient for full-thrust maneuvering

I think I have played 2 or 3 playthroughs now where I have found the exploration version, gutted it enternally and refitted it lol. Love the design.

Any plans to make a big brother/sister? :)

Probably quite a pain to upgrade. I built the new one from scratch as it needs extra width to fit in all the features (and enough thrusters to move at a respectable speed).

Is there simple to rebound upgrade DSF3 to DSF8? :) I find TWO of DSF3 in my world, floating without power and damaged by pirates. So, it was nice run from pirates with 2 large ships, one of them without woking reactor :D.

P.S.: Thanks for charged batteries in original blueprint :)

Gotta say i love this ship, ive used this and the previous versions ever since i found one floating in my world. I will say though that they need work making them more oxygen friendly. i always end up spending a lot of time making them air tight.

Love this ship series <3 Found a DS3 model in exploration and have loved it. Looking forward to getting the DSF8 model.

This ship has been around for quite awhile, and she has held up over the various updates. The ship is well balanced, and has just enough of everything that it is the perfect ship for building bases and outposts. I've used the previous versions of this ship a lot in PvP (with some modifications of course) and she has held up well.

It is my hope we see this ship for a long time to come.
