In the first war, Italy asked to Austria and Germany to obtain the rest of the italian territory to complete his unification process in reward of its entering in war (Trentino and Trieste). Austria refused. And there's more. When Austria declared war to Serbia, they "forgot" to warn their italian allied, breaking a clause of the Alliance treaty between Austria, Germany and Italy. So, our parliament, to not dissatisfy none, decided for nuetrality. But then the king Vittorio Emanuele and the president Salandra made an alliance with France and England without informing the parliament. It was almost a golpe. So parliament was forced to vote the enterning in war. I know: for the world, italians are accused to be "turncoats" but the most of those people don't know how things are happened. Europeans people were dragged to a war wanted from politicians and Industrial businessmans. Politicians did a great mess. Not the people. italians included. You portugueses had luck to remain out. :)

i would love a DLC for Valiant Hearts having the russian front , the red revolution, the russian civil war, Gallipolli , and other fronts, i am a bit tired of ww1 games having the western front, it's way too used

Well, we had problems between our people. some people wanted to join the germans , and others wanted to fight agaisn't them, and since the germans were blowing up every ship they founded spanish economy was suffering, that, and the fact that we just came out of another conflict, the second spanish - morrocan war, and our defeat and loss of colonies in Africa let us in a very bad position, AND the increasing republican trough, so yeah, we weren't in that conflict because we weren't prepared, if not we may have been there, like Portugal, at a very tiny participation, wich side, i don't really know, but i guess in the allies side, since France and the Brits were closer, and they were big friends of the portuguese, it was a better position considering how the conflict was going, germany wasn't really in a good position in this war. But yeah, it was good to us to maintain us outiside of the conflict

Well, more or less ! The Trentino was'nt yet italian territory. One of the italian targets in the Great War was actually free the Trentino from the Austrian-Hungaric Empire to complete the unification of the peninsula. So, there were'nt many tyrolean hats between the troupes. But certainly there were sacrifice, courage, fear for a war to which italians were unprepared, sent to the slaughter from their king and from some crazy and irresponsible politician. Spanish you did the right thing to keep out from that absurd conflict.
