Improve performance by disabling texture streaming
By RejZoR
Eliminate hitching and stuttering during gameplay by disabling on-the-fly texture streaming. Requires more RAM and Video RAM, but gives a lot smoother Killing Floor 2 experience with more stable framerate.

Improve performance by disabling texture streaming
Go to folder Documents:
.\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Config

Open file "KFEngine.ini" with Notepad and use Ctrl+F for searching. Search for:
bUseTextureStreaming

Change the value as described below:

bUseTextureStreaming=False

Disables on-the-fly texture streaming. Requires more RAM and Video memory (VRAM), but will most likely make framerate more stable with less hitching/stuttering. Map loading time may increase, because the game has to load ALL textures in memory before the level starts.

bUseTextureStreaming=True

Enables texture streaming which makes Killing Floor 2 more friendly to low end systems with less RAM and VRAM. It may cause hitching/stuttering if hard drive cannot supply textures to the game fast enough. This is default setting.

Save the document and run the game. Let me know if it helps on any of those problems in real-world conditions.

This should NEVER be disabled on GOOD PC's.

I assume it is just because it doesn't load in every texture at the start, it loads in all the textures currently being used. In dirty bomb it also does a similar thing, where when you spectate another player and see a new weapon, it will stream in once, but then its there for the rest of the game.

In killing floor 2 though it just loads it all at once, freezing the game instead of streaming in, but its still better than constant stutters.

Strangely enough, at first I wasn't getting stutters when purchasing weapons and stuff and that was on HD7950 3GB. Now with GTX 980 4GB I'm experiencing that. Every time I buy a new weapon, 1 second pause. Quite annoying.

@FuscusNight I only have a 750 ti (2gb Vram) and 8gb of ram, and it stopped stuttering for me. It does stutter for a very short time when new textures are introduced (like people joining with a different character, buying a new weapon etc.) but it is much better than the constant stutters that occured with texture streaming on.

I've used this on HD7950 with 3GB VRAM and it worked fine so necessity for 4GB isn't quite true...

Makes the game stutter even more ( 760 GTX 2GB, 8GB DDR3 RAM ). This only works if you have at least 4GB VRAM , otherwise this will just make things worse in every way.

Just tested, it worked fine, honestly didn't notice how much it stuttered until now, so it seems that if you have 2gb of vram, and 8gb of ram it's fine
