★ The Non-thinking Man's Killing Machine ★
By ℬЇḺḲѺ and 1 collaborators
This is a guide about how to play with sarge. My nickname Bilko comes from a movie: Sgt Bilko. I chose that name because I was playing sarge only. I play other classes but if I have to put pressure on ennemy team, it's Sarge STONE that I choose. Let's see how to use his weapons and blocks, why is he good and why is he bad.

RAIN OF FIRE
M60 OMG
The sarge's main weapon is a machine gun, as it's nervous, it's unstable and so you'll have to keep aiming when firing or your bullets will travel anywhere out of your target. Right mouse button let you zoom in, perfect for playing sniper and destroying the stuff that holds you from your objective. If you're not noticed, shoot bullet by bullet to save accuracy and discretion.

ROCKET LAUNCHER
Sarge's secondary weapon is his best friend for ruining opponent's efforts to protect their base. It's Thor's hammer, the most feared judgement on battlefield with Cogwheel's mortars. Only 5 rockets in your pockets, but one more fits into if you have an ammo box to provide it to you. It does what it's made for, blowing up a base or anyone who wants some but mainly save it for their base. Right mouse button is a down sight too. It's not stable, so take care to align your pointers when you shoot.

TRENCH TOOL
Sergeant's digging tool is a shovel and is used to gather resources by destroying blocks with it. Beside of this it is used to damage the enemy's cubes and cores if you get close to them. As a side note I want to say that there is no difference in world damage between any of the character's digging tools.

FRAG GRENADE, Active skill
Sarge's active ability are grenades, that's your only infinite ammo weapon so don't be stingy and use it all the time cooldown permit it. Launch 1, 2 or 3 in a row to destroy any equipment, injure any volunteer or hara-kiri and hurt the one(s) who forced you to this. If you know you're gonna die, don't leave with grenades in your pocket. You can damage cubes/cores too and weaken some voxels to help you dig.

TRUE GRIT, Passive skill
A great soldier is tenacious and so passive ability is emergency self healing which is activated when sarge is below 50 hp and limited to the same point. If someone can't keep shooting you until you die you will stay alive.

C4
Special block is an explosive charge. It's a little bomb. If you plan to bomb cores/cubes pick the 1200 blocks big bomb. If it's not really in your plans you have C4 it's faster to place.
BLOCKS
SPAWN
Cost 1000 blocks. Each new one will cost +500 so a third spawn cost 2000 blocks to deploy. It needs to have 1 empty block above it to be operational even if it fits into one block. There are 3 things to remember when you put a spawn. It must be hidden, you must get out fast to (you don't want to walk through long corridors or climb many stairs to join the battlefield) and it must be far from a Nigel's estimated action area. There are 2 types of spawn: offensive and defensive. Some cores/cubes to defend are substantially far from your original starting place and so you and your honorable defenders will appreciate to appear close to the action.
A spawn must be hidden or it will be destroyed by an enemy. If an opponent see it, destroy it yourself or that 'spoilsport' will get 500 resources. There are several options to place a great spawn point. Stay far from any Nigel's range of action. Place a radar before to scan the place and be sure your new spawn be out of their radars. I suggest you destroy your radar after checking, because it's noisy and could help localize your beloved zone. You can place it on an isolated place, as a very high spot you reach by building a tower that you destroy after the job is done. Or you can dig a small corridor with mines to prevent easy access.

RADAR
Cost 400 blocks. They reveals any opponents and their sneaky stuff in its scope. It's very necessary in every game. Place them as much around your cube than around theirs, as well as in some deserted places in your base to help prevent some sneaky attempts. Most of the time you have to bury them, or hide it behind some original force fields. Your wormhole with a radar inside will be noticed easily so dig some empty holes that you fill too. So your opponents won't know which block cover up a radar's wormhole.

MINE
Cost 200 blocks. A good mine is hidden, it can't be seen, it can't be shot from far. So a good mine is underground or hidden under blocks. If they're activated by a bullet they're just something that will weaken the place it's supposed to protect. One mine deals 50 damage. So 2 mines will kill the unfortunate walker if it's not a fresh Cogwheel or Sweet science (or someone buffed by blockbuster). People will think you won't replace them, so if you do, it will really slow their plans.
STRATEGY
No good defender really needs or wants you on defense. Of course if you're around, 2 vs 1 still is more comfortable. Avoid using your rockets and grenades in defense to preserve your base. If there is nothing to preserve you can shoot a rocket on your core, that won't hurt it, only opponents. If you prepared your defense with a spawn point, radars and mines, your ghost will defend while you attack. Sergeant: Latin deformation of "serviens" meaning 'to serve', it literally means one who is in the service of. You're in the service of defense by placing your stuff and in the service of attack by destroying their stuff and making a wide dirty hole in their shell. At start you have to run better than a ninja or asterella (have faith) and go behind the other team's lines to place your sneaky spawn(s). Then establish terror in their base with rockets, grenades and eventually if their base still seems too hostile, suicide attacks to dig their core or stuff and respawn with 5 new rockets, it's faster than going to an ammo box and waiting to reload your rockets. Open the shell with rockets, clean it with M60 or tool. If the map offers high spots, it's better to shoot your rockets from there and snipe their mines, tikis, turrets and anything you can see. If it's hard, deploy radars and botch their base step by step, a radar after another, turret by turret, dismantle everything, you are the sneaky saboteur.
When someone comes to ruin your fun, unsheathe your M60 and take him down. If he's not too close you may have a welcome rocket for this intruder, aim his foot and shoot, don't try to get a headshot with a rocket, it isn't worth the risk of shooting into the sky. You have your passive ability that regenerates you so resist and with your rapid fire you can win. Usually shoot 1 or 2 rockets to hurt the player then finish him with your M60.
Replace spawns to put pressure and save your time. Maybe place 2 spawns in offense to still be able to spawn in their base if they destroy one. Find places you can get out easily, without building or cutting to make stairs, or that will reveal the way you come from.
WEAKNESS
  • You don't have a lot of rockets, they will be quickly depleted, so use them well.
  • It isn't always easy to aim with a machine gun since you have to deal with its rate of fire, but if you can it's efficient.
  • If a Nigel does his job you'll have real trouble placing a spawn that won't be quickly taken out.
  • It takes about 2 seconds to reload a rocket, so be sure you can hide from bullets during this time.
TIPS & TRICKS
✰ You start with 5 rockets but can get one more from an ammo box and get 6 rockets before to run to their base !

★ Place mines underground.

✰ Place a radar in the open to reveals the area's dangers and destroy your radar before or after enemy's stuff, depending of the situation.

★ Always use your grenades (mainly on the other team's side ^^), to destroy stuff, especially mines, to distract them and before to die, as well as to dig, but not when you're close from your mates.

✰ Don't camp near your spawns. And avoid placing it on a tree if this tree is too visible.

★ A quickly deployed spawn will give you a great advantage so consider placing it to be the 1st thing to do when blue wall disappears.

✰ If you're shot while placing a spawn, stop to build it or you will die and the player will destroy it, you will lose a minimum of 1K ressources and give him 500.

★ If you know a spawn has been noticed, destroy it and find a new place.

✰ Watch out for staying out of ennemy's radars range, keep an eye on bottom, just above the blocks.
INTRODUCING SARGE

CONCLUSION
Sarge Stone is the best base breaker even if Asterella does it very well too, it's faster to use rockets and grenades, respawn and repeat the process, than it is waiting for Cogwheel's ability cooldown.

Self healing is something you miss if you play him a lot and then decide to switch, so this is a great benefit.

Sarge is an explosive hero. The non-thinking man/hero.Het's not the strongest, but he IS the most tenacious, the one who's gonna blow up a base, and ruin a lot of ennemy's time and resources: for free.
He's as fun to play for craziness gameplay as for sneaky tactics. Playing sarge means to have responsibilities too, as everyone on the battlefield. It is to place a maximum of radars, and helpful spawns as much in defense as in offense.

Yeah I'll update that guide, I think the best perks for sarge are regen as hero perk, dig for ammos in offensive, and dig for heal or extra health as defensive.

It's the best thing ever when you play sarge defense, and build a little bunker to just blow down the enemy base from across the map and kill the cube while setting up mines/radars and dominating any little scrubs who want your cube. :D
