Introduction
Imagine this: you recently finished an advanced or expert Mann Vs. Machine mission and in the tour completion loot slot, you see one more crate than usual. In your mind, you're thinking, "Could I get an Australium?" You close your eyes hoping that the whole team will be congratulating you for getting the gold weapon you've always wanted. Just like that, the team is screaming. You, an amateur to MvM just beginning to play, or a professional with over 300 tours trying new strategies, gets an Australium weapon for the first time in your life. This guide will help you control the hype, control gloating, and give tips on trading, and leveling your magestic piece of war to greater status.
What in God's Name is an Australium?
For those who are new to the game, or just have no bloody idea what this golden weapon is, let me explain it for you in a sophisticated matter.
Australium weapons are a very rare classification of weapons introduced in the Two Cities Update. Similarly to Botkiller weapons, they are unique reskins of specific weapons, and are awarded upon completing a full Advanced or Expert Tour of Duty in Mann vs. Machine mode. Built from the material of the same name, the custom golden skin is purely cosmetic; despite being constructed from the same element as the Golden Wrench and Saxxy, only the Golden Frying Pan causes the same Australium statue ragdolls. All Australium weapons are of Strange quality.
To break it down, these epic weapons are just your favourite weapon, but complete gold. I bet right now, you are thinking, "Why should I be so excited about? They're just the fùcking same weapons with gold plating. What's the difference in battle?" Again, I'd like to answer this. In battle, wether you're on King Of The Hill, Capture The Flag, or trying the new Mannpower maps, it doesn't statistically benefit the player anyway. Believe me, it does feel like it is!
In all seriousness, Australium weapons are great for slaying, good for playing.
Daddy I Love Him! Or Do I?
"No! You can't take it away from me! I earned it fair and square!" This is what you sound like if you won't ever trade your special war machine.
"Ok, I suppose I can trade it to you, but it is my first one EVER. I'll think about it." This is what you sound like if you are debating to trade.
"You want this? For sure! That'll be _____ buds and _____ keys." This is what you sound like if you're positively selling.
Now, which one of these is the one you want to be? It all depends how much you crave your heavenly item.
Keeping
For people like me (somewhat), you'll never sell your weapon and that's final. I really can't say anything more to it. You like it, you keep it. Simple
Debating
For people also like me (absolutely), you have two options: keep or sell. If you're keeping the weapon, read above. If you're selling the weapons, there are some things you must know before you put it on the market or trade.
  1. Prices are precious. If putting your shiny beast on the market, check the price of what it is first and then make your price. For example: if an Australium Minigun is at $78.15, make the price cheaper so it's #1 for lowest price. Now that you know the price, make it $78.14. One cent makes a difference.
  2. Don't be scammin'! Morely for trading, if a person wants your Australium for a good price, look it up! The most reliable price checker in Team Fortress 2 is http://backpack.tf/. They have all the prices of the Australium weapons up-to-date. Anyway, scamming doesn't help you or the trader. Trading has became so protected nowadays that one screw up and you could be gone. Be careful who you trade with and never disable email verification.
  3. Be snappy about it. Planning to sell or trade your new death device should happen quick. If you take too long, prices for it may go down and never go back up. If the do the opposite, sell it even quicker! Just don't take weeks or months debating.
Last but not the very least, you want to sell or trade right when you get it. If you do, do it. There is a link already to Backpack.tf so you can price check and remember the tips in Debating. They will help!
Conclusion/Thanks
Overall, this guide is for the people lucky enough to get an Australium weapon and if you have gotten one, congratulations. If you haven't, keep buying tickets and keep playing Team Fortress 2 in general!
I'd like to thank my family for paying tickets, friends for playing the tours with me, and Jesus because Jesus is awesome. I almost forgot. Thank YOU for reading my guide and I hope there will be no hate comments on my spelling. Thank you one last time.
