gameplay
im going to try and find out what spot towers are and stuff

Strategems: these are abilities that you can use with your hero. pressing right trigger on your controller will bring up a menu while you are in battle that you can select a strategem to activate. each strategem has a cost. the cost is a integer. the currency you have to pay this cost are the green little bars above your health bar in the bottom left. some strategems cost more than others. some strategems require time or other variables such as 2 of your officers retreating to activate. there are various categories of strategems. some are attacks that your hero does such as ice strike. others are utility such as teleporting back to your main base (transformation). then others are structures that have unique effects such as recovery tower which heals you and other allied officers with 50m.

academy: this is a building that you can construct in empire mode. the number of academies you have constructed unlocks more strategems that you can purchase and then use with your hero.

so i just beat the empire mode for the first time and i spent all my bonus points in the options menu on the max star weapons and you cant even use them in your next empire mode if you dont pay the 4000 to unlock weapons so spending bonus points in options seems like a bad idea

well i actually havent really figured that out yet. so you conquered china and you saved your timeline and now you are like waht do i do?

you can play empire mode again and use your bonus points for a different experience

you can use your bonus points to buy items/stratagems/weapons for use in free mode

you can go make custom characters and banners and stuff in edit mode

when you start a new game in empire mode you can select a bunch of different parameters

weapon unlock costs 4000 points and will unlock weapons that you have previously acquired in empire mode. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK WEAPONS THAT YOU UNLOCKED USING BONUS POINTS IN THE OPTIONS MENU.


if you use some bonus points and then start your game and you don't save you have just wasted those points because it remembers that you spent them but doesnt realize you never saved your game. i just tested this, it is a great way to delete all of your bonus points

Each quest has their own difficulty level. once you complete a quest you'll unlock a new, harder one that's related to the one you just finished. Progressing to the highest difficulty for a quest group will unlock a cutscene.

Let's take the assassinate quest group for example:
Assassinate unit commander >> Assassinate Official >> Assassinate officer >> Assassinate Regional Lord >> Assassinate Ruler
This will give you the "Expert Assassin" event.

Another one is the Guard quest group:
Guard traders >> Guard Merchants >> Guard Vault or Guard Armory >> Defend Peasants >> Defend City >> Rescue City
This will give you "Ultimate Mercenary" event

Getting Jumping Ahead achievement:
Participate in Guard/ Escort Quests as a free officer. Eventually, as you take on more difficult quests from the same group, you'll see a request from a ruler (provided that you're staying near one) named "Rescue the City" or "Escort Ruler". After completing the quest, the ruler will visit you personally and offer you either of two elevated ranks.
