In this tutorial we explain the very basics of the User Interface. If you want to create a new mission you will need to select mission editor from the main menu, then click New Mission.


The Mission ID is the reference the game uses to place the mission in the game and to read text files.

It’s important to look at the ESS folder that can be found in the following directories:
For PC:
Computer> Local Disc (C)> Users> Your Username> AppData> Roaming> Ess> Data
For MAC:
/users/username/ess/Data

If you have not yet created a new mission no missions should be here. We will use the ESS folder later on to add text to the game. Now, back to the game. Make sure to name your MissionID something unique, so you do not overwrite an existing mission.

I’ll name mine editor001… This is very important as later on we will need to use the mission id later to add text.

From here you will need to select the port that you’d like to use and the ship that the player will control. We’ll select Dover for now. And the Tug Boat
