Thanks Torres!

Subscribed to all, love the Coporation theme and crazily enough I'm soloing on survival so I'm planning to use your drones to conquer the star system :D these look nice, efficient and ready for conquer. Shame can't rate them all same way I subscribed to them all.

I'd love to see this and other Void Corp ships updated with the new autopilot features.

Ah okay, that clears up a lot. Thanks for the response!
One could say, it works "as intended" then. :0)

Yes I agree storage space is a bit of an issue with a small drone.
Realistic setups is what I'm looking for as well. Then again, many game mechanics are still buggy or use dodgy workarounds rather than proper solutions (not your fault, just mentioning it). So here and there I allow for a little compensation.

I haven't finished building the barge yet, I was testing the drone as a standalone. Explains why I can't hear the warning sound :D

As far as automation is concerned:
If you ask me, no need to re-invent the wheel.
There are nice semi-automatic / "deploy and forget" drones out there already, even 100% vanilla ones. Take your pick!

I'll probably end up modifying the barge's docking section to accomodate either of these:
A.I.U.D. Ground Hog MK III, http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=378865291
Locust - H, http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=334150395

I tested both of them extensively, and they work rather well.

I haven’t tried it on a dedicated server, but you should be hearing “alert 2” played by the “Drones in range alert sound block” activated by the “Drones in range alert sensor” when the bottom side of the ship (where the drones are pointing) get within about 50 meters of the asteroid (the max range of the drone’s drill activation sensors). I just tested this with the blueprint currently on steam and it worked in my world, so it could be a server issue.

As far as what the drones do, yes they basically go through then signal you when they’ve stopped at which point you can take control of them and fly the back to offload. If you want to do more mining then point the empty one back at an asteroid for another run. You can get into a rhythm where one is mining while one is being piloted back and offloaded.

I experimented with getting it to turn around and go for another pass or more, but I ran into some issues with making it work through overriding gyros etc., but there is also the issue of storage space on the drone itself. I design for realistic settings, so if you send the drone at a large asteroid, it didn’t seem to have enough space for more passes once it made it through the first pass.

Sorry if it wasn’t quite what you were hoping for. In the future I might circle back and try to put more time in the drone.

Thanks for checking it out and thank you for the feedback.

Please let me know if I can answer any more questions.

Happy engineering!

Hi there!

Cute drone.
But I'm not sure what it's supposed to be doing.
I followed the launch / deployment instructions on the VCS Mining Barge page, but:

- I never hear any warning sound (you mention one in the deployment procedure - mind you, I'm playing this on a dedicated server, and the "sensor clicks" cannot be heard here, as far as I know.)

- eventually when the drone's drills touched the asteroid surface, I activated the "start mining timer". The drone dug a straight tunnel through the asteroid, then stopped and signalled it is finished. Is that it? It doesn't automatically turn around for another run or anything?
