Desolator and Daedalus work wonders when you need to deal with foes who can tank your spells. Bloodthorne, on the other hand, is a nightmare-inducing late game purchase for Arc Wardens, Invokers, and Phantom Assassins when it's in the hands of the Slayer. That's why I typically buy an Orchid Malevolence as a Core Item. :)

You might want to update the guide. I'm sure the situational items were supposed to go on the extensions and the core to situational.

The Bloodstone is a great late-game item, especially if you need to help your team stop counter-pushes. I especially recommend getting a Bloodstone if some of your enemies have talents that can hasten how quickly they respawn.
