Capping GTA 3 for 60fps
By inalone
GTA 3 - you either (natively) cap the game at 30fps, looking terribly choppy, or have it run at a high fps, but with extreme physical glitching. This guide will show you how to cap the game at any fps you want.

Software installation
First off, before you can go into battle, you need to equip your weapons.

  1. First, you'll need (obviously) GTA 3, or in fact, any game you want.
  2. Second, a program called "RivaTuner Statistics Server". There are downloads for this on the internet, but none of them I have personally tried. I'd reccommend you get MSI Afterburner, as RivaTuner is usually packaged with it as a tickbox during installation: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

NOTE: EVGA PrecisionX's framerate limiter DOES NOT WORK WITH THE GTA TRILOGY. This is due to the fact that they run on an unsupported platform (OpenGL I think)
Applying RivaTuner
1. Open up RivaTuner Statistics Server from your start menu, and you should se a section called "Framerate Limit". Click on it and set the desired amount. I usually go 75.
2. MINIMISE RivaTuner statistics server and launch GTA 3.
3. Turn off Frame Limiter in the options and you should be capped.

When you have finished playing the games you want to cap (this works on every game I've tried), go to your taskbar icons to the left and right click the TV looking icon with a 60 in the corner and click close.

ummmm......you could just go into the options menu, display settings, and disable frame limiter.

BTW You don't need any of this if you have a RADEON card, go into the panel and select GTA3, then just enable the custom framerate limit. Set it to anything between 25-60 unless you want broken physics. BTW SilentPatch fixes the frame limiter to be 30FPS like PS2 instead of the default unmodded limit, 25FPS.

I believe Frame sync refers to your monitors refresh rate (i.e 50hz monitors with Frame sync limits to 50FPS, looking very smooth for a foreign gamer, but not for Americans and Japanese with their superior 60hz format)
