Be present; don't hide around for kills
It's oftentimes that someone will be voted out because the crew didn't see them around when they reported the body. Obviously don't get yourself caught, but try to be around other people so you have an alibi to go with. "It wasn't me; I was with blank, blank, and blank."
Participate in the chat
You don't have to be super social, but it gets rid of the "vote them because they're not saying anything" card.
Wait for the taskbar to go up (if applicable)
This won't apply if the taskbar updates at meetings/reports only, so don't worry about this if that's the case. Otherwise, some crewmates will use this to tell if you're faking a task. But also remember how long that task usually takes! Sometimes you might just have to ditch this for really short tasks like diverting power.
Just act normal
Don't be suddenly quiet in the chat when you're usually social. Don't wander around the map aimlessly as if you're looking for someone to kill. Try not to follow people unless you're grouping, and keep moving when you sabotage. (Stopping and then moving after sabotage starts usually looks sus). Also, go to "fix" sabotages. Sometimes actually fixing them can lend you trust too.
Don't immediately kill someone when they call you sus
If blue accuses you and blue dies right after, that just doesn't look good for you.
If you see another imp's kill, report it
If roles are on, claim you think it was a shapeshifter but didn't see the color because they ran away (if you saw your fellow imposter). Running past bodies can look bad if someone goes in that direction and it looks like you ran away from it. Of course, sometimes someone will say it was a self-report and you might get voted, but that's just something that happens.
Avoid typical imp behavior
To clarify, what I mean by typical imp behavior is accusing the accuser. Let's say red claims he saw you kill, whether it's true or not. Saying "lies" or "liar" in response is such an imposter thing to say. Don't get overly defensive. Simply ask why they think you're the imposter, tell them where you were and who you were with. You can also claim it was a shapeshifter because you were somewhere else and blue saw you there too.
Be careful
Avoid killing around vents if you can, since engineers like to camp there to see an imposter in action. Be aware if the cameras are on, and avoid killing or using your role right into a wall. Sometimes you can see the animation through the other side if you're too close to the wall. Also be careful since sometimes doors can lock you in with the body or someone will walk in on you.
Don't fake visual tasks
You just can't do that. If you decide to fake it, make sure no one else is around. Usually if I'm given a visual task to fake, I just ignore it.
Don't overdo it
You don't need to fake every little thing in your taskbar. Just looking like you're on your way to do a task can be enough. ALSO be aware of common tasks. If you don't have admin swipe or fix wires, DON'T fake it. If you don't have it, no one else does either, crewmate or not.
Don't accuse random people
If you accuse someone, choose someone who was isolated or someone who was already acting sus. Try to go with the group. If the group claims someone is sus, just go with it, but still ask why instead of being in a hurry to vote them out. Being rushed to vote someone can look sus too.
If your fellow imp gets caught...
Just go with the group. It sucks, but defending them to avoid getting them voted off looks sus and will give you away.
