How to Set SSD Space as Virtual Memory (Paging File)

1. Open System Settings
o Press Windows + R, type sysdm.cpl, and press Enter.
o Go to the Advanced tab.

2. Open Performance Options
o Under Performance, click Settings.
o In the new window, go to the Advanced tab again.
o Under Virtual memory, click Change…

3. Configure Paging File
o Uncheck “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.”
o Select your SSD drive.
o Choose Custom size.
o Set:
 Initial size (MB) — usually equal to your installed RAM (e.g., 16 GB RAM → 16384 MB).
 Maximum size (MB) — can be 1.5 to 2× your RAM size.
o Click Set and then OK.

4. Reboot your PC
o Windows will use that SSD space as additional virtual RAM (swap).
