A Special Thanks to The Scavenger Collecting Discord Server!
I wouldn't know how to do any of this without help from the amazing people in the scav collecting server! I especially want to thank Topapo, who helped me out the most. Everyone there is lovely <3
Tools Needed
The most important tool that you need, is Screen to GIF.

Head on over to screentogif.com and download the installer

Setting it up is very simple, just open up the launcher and go through the steps.
Mods needed
First, the mods that you are going to want:

Dev Console ( Lets you spawn in any creature, and their specific IDs )

Visible ID ( How to see IDs and stats )

Testing Arenas ( Blank Arenas, used for transparent gifs )

Grey Screen ( Used for transparent GIFs )

Lights Out ( Turns off light sources for transparent GIFs)

Mouse Drag ( VERY useful! Lets you drag creatures, kill, pause and revive them )

Beast Master
( a more user friendly way to spawn in creatures and items )

Not as Imporant Mods:

Sharepner ( combine with eyebrow raise to get crisp images )

Eyebrow Raise {CURRENTLY BROKEN} ( allows you to zoom in on scavengers, make sure to configure the remix settings! )

Dress My Slugcat ( allows you to make slugcat invisible, best paired with eyebrow raise )

Sharpener + EyeBrow Raise

IDs Expanded ( increases the range of creatures you can find )

ID Finder ( lets you search for specific traits )

FUNNY MODS

Big Scav Eyes ( lets you choose how big scavs eyes can be )

Scavenger Fight Club ( makes scavs fight eachother )

Cowboy Hat ( gives slugcat and scavs cowboy hats )

Rotund World + Today we Feast ( makes scavs fat )
Spawning in Scavengers using Dev Console
It can be intimidating at first, but its actually quite simple!

Open up the console and type "spawn [creature] ID.1.[fullID]
If you want to know the name for a creature, check out the Miraheze wiki, as they have it listed there.

I recomennd going to the dev console modpage if you have further questions.
Make sure your game is in windowed mode!
Putting the game in windowed mode allows you to drag the screen to gif window over it. In fullscreen alt + tab will put the game window away.
Screen To GIF settings
The MIraheze wiki has a great section on Screen To GIF if you have more questions: https://rainworld.miraheze.org/wiki/Rain_World_Wiki:Style_Guide#ScreenToGif

Don't be afraid to mess around with the settings too.

FPS Settings

Once you hit the initial record button, this menu will open up:
You are going to want to set your fps to 60, 40 can work too if your pc is unable to handle 60.

Options
In the start up menu after activating the executable file, click on "options"
Once in "options", head over to the "Recorder" tab and put your capture frequency to "per second" and check the box saying "Fixed Frame Rate"

Under the "Capture Mode" section, you can also chose to hide your mouse cursor.

GIF Settings
If you don't want to read, you can look at my settings in the following images.

  1. Once you have recorded a gif, head to "File" in the top left
  2. Now, click on "Save as"
  3. Under File type preset, make sure "Gif" and "Default (.gif)" are selected
  4. Under Encoder and Quantizer, encoder should be set to "ScreentoGif" and quantizer should be "Neural Network"
  5. Under "Encoder options" Sampling should be set to 1 and Colors set to 256
  6. Enable "Looped Gif" and "Repeat Forever"

Making Transparent GIFs
This is where mods are really going to come into play.

The most important mods are Grey Screen, Lights Out, and Testing Arenas.

Go into your remix menu once the mods are enabled to check the keybinds for Grey Screen and Lights Out, before going to the Arena Mode, make sure you are in Sandbox Mode and selecting the arena you want. In this case we are going to select Ta-Empty.

If you don't want your slugcat in the arena, simply deselect player 1 <- it should look like this!

Once in the arena, hit the keybinds that enable Grey Screen and Lights Out (Lights out is for lanterns and other light sources)

If there is a single frame of just pure grey, then the gif will break!

Once you are done recording, it's time to enable the transparency option.

Under "Encoder Options" click the "Enable Transparency" box and "Select which color to display as transparent" Make sure that the chosen color to display as transparent is the same color as the background. You can select the color with the drag and drop.

Simply save the gif to your device and enjoy!

Adding in Images
Adding in images is actually quite simple!

First, go to the "Image" Tab. Then, select "watermark"

Upload your image (make sure it is transparent!), and scale it to the size you wish.
Once you have the image the size and position you want, select the first frame of the gif, before shift + clicking the last frame. This will apply the image to all frames. If you do not want the image on all frames, select which frames you do want.
