GPU-based Crashes on Belsavis, Ilum, Hoth

Hi all! Let me start by saying that I am NOT affiliated with BioWare, Broadsword, or EA, and they do not actively look at Steam forums. The best way to get in contact is through Customer Support tickets in-game or SWTOR's own forums on their website.

Some of you may experience crashes while attempting to travel to Belsavis, Ilum, and Hoth! I'm assuming that's why you're here, and reading.

This issue came up because of the modernization done to the environments a couple of months back, which causes issues for players with insufficient graphics hardware (VRAM). Here are some workarounds!

Why is my game crashing? It wasn't before.
This issue came up because of the modernization done to the environments a couple of months back, which causes issues for players with insufficient graphics hardware (VRAM).

Customer Support: "The most commonly reported cause of crashes is attempting to play SWTOR on a computer without a dedicated graphics card or with less than 1GB of VRAM, which is now the minimum recommended for the game. Players using integrated graphics (which typically allocate up to 512MB of VRAM) are especially prone to crashes on these planets, even if the rest of the game runs fine elsewhere."
How do you fix this?
I’m now using a new device and thus no longer have this issue, but here is what I was asked to try by Customer Support. I can't guarantee any of this will work, but hopefully it'll help! They're not in order per se, but I've structured them such that it makes sense to go down the list as is!

1. Use "Windowed Mode" and see if the game runs.

2. Lower resolution to 1024 x 768 and see if the game runs on these planets.

3. Use the following minimal graphics settings:
Graphics Quality Preset = Very Low
Resolution: 1280 x 720
Window Mode = Windowed
Visible Character Limit = Low
Grass Quality = 0

Hopefully this is helpful, figured I'd share what I know!
