Introduction
  • Time moves when we move or interact with a door/phone/window. I considered writing out how many units of time happen between events (and that was way too much work), but to simplify, it tends to be about 5 or 10 units between events. For example, moving from the front door to the phone is 4 units (kitchen, living room, hallway, phone). This is actually the true game play purpose of all these people at the front door: heading back to the front door takes up a lot of time and will let other events time out if you're not paying attention
  • By that logic, if you just want to talk to Onna, you can simply click on the phone again and again until her next phone call trigger
  • If an event is missed, it's dialogue will play the next time you trigger that person. For example, Onna will say her first of four phone call conversations when you answer her call for the first time, even if you miss the first call and pick up the second time she rings. However, this will cause you to miss dialogue and can cause deaths by locking you out of choices you need to make
  • Our goal is to avoid infection. Only let someone in if you think they're trustworthy.
  • This game is effectively several subplots that need to be balanced simultaneously. Making a poor decision in one will lead to a death, either then or later on
  • The game begins with a safety video explaining the spore disease. The first stage of the disease is confusion, the second is take over (paranoia, hallucinations, and an urge to socialize), activation (the desire to head up high), and blooming (bursting open with mushrooms). If you see someone with any of these symptoms, be suspicious
  • There's a meta element that is not strictly plot relevant here. If you're streaming this, be careful because Silvia will say your computer account name in a couple scenes

The game has a connected website that explains some additional information. The game mentions it being in the files we downloaded, but I could not for the life of me find it and I’ve seen other people confused about it. It wasn’t in local files. Maybe something got mixed up in the jump from Itch.io to Steam? The website will be opened the first time you click on the bedroom computer

If you don’t want to click the link, the main new information is as follows:
  • Spores are not water soluble. Water cannot be contaminated. However, rain does not lessen the danger of a spore storm
  • Spores are extremely small and normal dust filters will not work. Specific masks and specialty air filters will work
  • Temperatures of 100 degrees Celsius or higher, in addition to alcohol, can help with lowering infectiousness
  • Emergency services can be called, but they will not show up until the spore storm has passed

Surviving the Spore Storm
Before we go anywhere, let's summarize the four entrances of our house and what can go wrong

Front Door:
  • Ray, the confused man, will show up three times. He contributes nothing other than being a possible source of infection. He shows up unmasked, then masked, then with a filter. The correct way to handle him is to either ignore him entirely or to tell him no all 3 times. If let in while Hugo is in the house, he'll recognize him and have unique dialogue
  • Siliva is not a threat during her first or third she arrives. The first time she will simply give more information. The second, she will ask about Hugo. If told he’s in the basement, she’ll grab him and neutralize him for that playthrough. If told he’s inside your house, she’ll break in, causing a game over. On the third arrival, she’ll be off-putting and ask you if you’re your character name or your computer account name ( and she'll say you'll bloom soon and the current time on your computer if you say you're name is your computer account), but she is not a threat
  • A final door bell ring will show a path of mushrooms outside
  • If you don't want Silvia to get Hugo out of the basement, you can simply ignore the front door entirely

Attic Window:
  • Noah will arrive and ask to be let in. After his first meeting, you can ask Onna about him and she’ll contradict his story, letting you talk to him more. If confronted about his lie, you have the option to tell him to get off your roof entirely
  • If Noah is not dealt with, his mask filter will run out and he’ll break through the window near Onna’s forth call and will attack you the next time you walk through the hallway.
  • Noah can be let in anytime before that. You need to let him in and let him break the window. At that point, entering the attic before the end of the storm will be a game over, unless you borrow his mask, letting you block the hole with a painting
  • If confronted on his lie, you call tell him to get off the roof and try somewhere else. He’ll leave and you’ll later hear him die outside. He will not attack if this is done

Basement Door:
  • Hugo will knock three separate times.
  • On the second, he’ll ask for a Towel if told no.Taking one from the bathroom and giving it him will make him like you and, if let in at that point, will unlock his unique endings
  • After the third knock, he’ll become infected and will infect you if let in.
  • During Silvia's second visit, if Hugo is still in the basement, you can rat him out to her and she’ll get him, stopping him from turning later
  • If Hugo is not let in before his third knock or handed over to Silvia in the basement, he will turn after the third knock and attack around Onna’s forth call.

Onna’s Calls
  • Onna will call four times. If one is ignored, she’ll say her first dialogue for the next one, which will prevent you from answering all four and cause a death. You need to pick up the phone all four times and give her the correct answer for her three questions. Getting any question wrong will either infect her and give her unique dialogue and an animation of busting thorough her window/stalking us after her next call, or will lead to her instantly attacking if the final call is failed
  • The first one establishes her subplot: she has no internet access and needs us to answer questions for her on the infection
  • Her second call is if it’s safe to drink tap water. The answer is yes, as the mold is not water soluble. Telling her to get a filter, open a window, or drinking nothing will get her infected
  • Her third call is if it’s safe to turn on her heat pump (basically a window unit AC but for heat). The answer is no, as it’s not hot enough to kill the mold (It would have to be 100 C water boiling hot, and this would be room temp). Telling her that the air filter will work, that it’s hot enough, or that noise will attract spores will infect her
  • Her forth call is what to do with the Infected that’s trying to break into her house. The correct answer (per Silvia) is to lock herself in her bathroom. Telling her to leave the house, call the police (emergency services won’t come until after the storm), or to attack (unique dialogue/sprite and Bad Neighbor achievement) will get her infected and instantly cause a game over

To reach the end of the storm, all four of Onna’s calls need to picked up and her questions need to be correctly answered, Noah needs to be let in or gotten rid off, and Hugo needs to be let in or gotten rid of
Once the storm ends, you will prompted on whether or not you want go outside. The correct answer is no (you’ve seen that swarm of mold outside the front door). Saying Yes is End 2. Saying No lets you wrap up the game by calling the police for Onna or deciding who you want to hang with. The game will conclude when the police are called (outside of solo Hugo endings) and whoever is in your house either leaves or is asked to stay
