The following is the order of unlocks according to a particular play-through (one without sketching any blueprints). You will likely experience a different order, due to behind-the-scenes "pools" of various blueprints.

For the order of knowledge stones, they come in "pools". You'll get things at random from a pool until the pool is exhausted, and then you'll start learning things from the next pool. But we only have pools containing either 1 or 2 technologies, so the order is mostly fixed. This means when you reach a new pool, you'll learn the 2 technologies containing it as your next 2 knowledge stones, but the order may vary from player to player. Here's the Emerald Isles pools:

4. Bed //OR// Campfire & Cooking plate
5. Animal Landing pad //OR// Millstone
6. Compost bin //OR// Critter habitats
7. Wood farming plots //OR// Sewing table

Because I test this list from a fresh play-through (with minimal/controlled sketchbook use), I may not have progressed far enough to be fully accurate (yet). Give me a minute to catch up...

Bugs
Some folks report that they can receive a duplicate blueprint, but that's not supposed to happen.

"Words of Wisdom"
Note that there is another guide that has just the quotes (Words of Wisdom by AburntBridges). I did not copy that guide, but rather wrote these down from the game. I don't mean to steal your wind, AburntBridges; I just needed to match the quote with what it unlocks, because too many folks were getting progression hangups (or bugs), myself included.

On my most recent play through (0.3.3.22) I didn't get the Spinner, Bird House, or Wood Chest blueprints before getting the "Fragments" blueprints. Then, after several Fragments...

  • Wood Chest* - "A life in the clouds means every find is a treasure"
I really don't know why...

Lost Sayings
These quotes/recipes have been removed (and the blueprint is now unlocked in some other manner):
  • Cooking Plate & Campfire - "Just like memories, some things are better once shared" (this saying got replaced during the Critters update, then the Pyrologics update reverted the saying to the previous saying; now, patch 0.3.3.20 put it back to the new saying... phew!)
  • Granary - "The fruits of our labor have ripened, waiting to be savored"
    (now Granary unlocks as soon as you get some food to store)
  • Bird House* - "Each and every one of us has a part to play, from the tallest to the smallest" (Red Cliffs?)
