So I bet you've probably seem a few Guides that really didn't explain anything about duck journals, do you want to know what they are? How to get them? And if you REALLY should spend that $5 on a journal instead of two keys? You've come to the right place little duck hunter!

Here's what we're going over today, Duckstreaks, Duck XP, Ranks, Styles and Customization.
Duckstreaks
So you're probably wondering, what is this "duckstreak" and how did Valve ever allow a cosmetic killstreak item? Well, it's not exactly a killstreak. Let's go into that.

Alright we all love our Killstreak Weapons. We have Killstreak, Specialized Killstreak, and Professional Killstreak. Killstreak counts KILLS, Specialized adds a SHEEN that moves faster with more kills and Professional adds a PARTICLE EFFECT to your eyes with more and more kills.

Duckstreaks are exactly the same as Killstreaks with no Effects, and all kills under a duckstreak are shown in the kill feed.
Ducks and XP
Hmm Dmg! Ehvrybmody is dhroppming Dhucks! -The Pyro on a Public Valve Server.

If you couldn't understand the pyro, he was saying how everybody is dropping ducks.

I'm sure you've seen them already, you kill someone and then a little enemy team colored duck appears right? But wait, there are other ducks too, what about those?

Let's talk about it!

When playing in match and someone dies, little ducks appear at their area of death.
Each duck contains a certain amount of "Duck XP", let me show you.

"Captured: Collecting ducks that were dropped by the opposing team will award 3 Duck XP each.
Created: Collecting ducks from members of the opposing team you kill will award 3 Duck XP each.
Objective: Collecting ducks that were spawned from doing objectives will award 3 Duck XP each.
Quackston Hales: Collecting bonus ducks (which are announced by Merasmus when they spawn) will award 50 Duck XP each.
Recovered: Collecting ducks that were dropped by teammates will award 1 Duck XP each.
Team Captured: Teammates that collect ducks that you created will award 3 Duck XP each"
(as said by the Official Team Fortress 2 Wiki.)

Well there you have it, killing someone drops ducks, which collected give some kind of XP.

Also, when viewing from your inventory, you can see your XP and the XP of all of your friends who have the duck journal!
Ranks and Such
So we've learned of Duckstreaks, and Duck XP, but what do we use Duck XP for?
RANKS!

Similar to strange weapons, when you reach 5,000 Duck XP it levels up and gains a sick new rank.

Alright hold up, did you say 5,000!? Yea, that is A LOT of XP huh? Well, better start working!

Here is a list of the Ranks and their titles of the Duck Journal

It changes the words before "Duck Journal"
The first column is the RANK, the second one is the XP RANK and the third is the title.

Alright, Now let's read over some of the other cool thing this journal does. It's not a cosmetic item, it's actually and Action Slot item. Throw it into your Action Slot!
It can be used as a noisemaker, making a quack sound, the same one you hear when gathering ducks.

I have $5, what now?
Well, you have money for a journal. But do you want one?

Let me rephrase that.

I have 5$, should I donate it to McVee and get a free Strange Killstreak Action Item that allows for friendly competition?

That's up to you.

Also, only a portion goes to Valve, and no, this is not our Smissmas Update

It's 2023. End of the Line is saved in the game's files as a holiday, and there are commands relating to whether players drop bonus ducks and if there's a cooldown between duck drops. Has anyone actually tested whether you can set up a community server with the End of the Line event active, even if collecting ducks wouldn't actually increase the level of a Duck Journal?
