OK, when you reach the quest to go rescue a bunch of priests, this is when you should start paying attention.

Stay away from the location marked with the exclamation mark until you are ready to do this achievement!


It is easy to get carried away and forget and stumble into this area (which I did!), so if you do accidentally go there and trigger the event, just let yourself get killed and get taken back to a shrine. Even if you do get a curse, as long as you don't survive (you die), you can revisit this location after you gear up with the equipment that I will suggest in the next section!

If you do trigger this event and go through with killing all of the cultists and get a curse, you will have to start a new game and work your way to this point again!

The first item that I recommend that you keep an eye out for during your play through is the Shield of Wisdom, since it gives resistance to curses:


An even better item would be the Moon Shield, which gives resistance to all negative statues:


Another item that might also be helpful would be the Oriental Shield, which gives 100% Damage Reduction to Physical, Dark, and Divine:


The next item that will help you is the Amulet of Medusa, which increases resistance to all negative statuses.
Note that the first time you play this game, the amulets that you get will Slightly help, the second time you play (selecting New Game+) the amulets will Moderately help, and the third time you play (selecting New Game+) the amulets will Significantly help!
BTW, the first time I played through, I picked Normal game play, and the second and third times I played through, I picked Challenging.


The final item that I can recommend is the Ointment of Resistances, which temporarily increases resistance to all negative effects: Burn, Poison, Curse, and Bleed:

With all of the equipment in place, once I got to the following location (where the golden diamond is at!), I drank the Ointment of Resistances to make extra sure that I wouldn't get any curses!




BTW, if you don't have all of these items equipped, or have lesser version(s) of the Amulet of Medusa, you might get a slight curse to pop up, but as long as it stays slightly faded on your screen, that means it hasn't turned into a full curse!

For my weapon, I used the Divine Sun Spear:

For my special attacks, I used Thorns and the Thrusting Attack, since they can both take out a crowd of enemies.

The shield I used was the Moon Shield (Gives resistance to all negative statuses),

The amulet that I used was the Amulet of Medusa III (significantly increases resistance to all negative statuses).

For my equipped potions and ointments, I used Health potions, Fury potions to replenish my special attacks, and the Ointment of Resistances (temporarily increases resistance to all negative effects: Burn, Poison, Curse, and Bleed).
I avoided using any items that could give me any of the curses (Fire Petards, Poison Petards, etc.)!

Using all of these together at the same time might have been overkill, but I just didn't want to take any chances and have to start another game and work my way through the game to get to this achievement point again!

If my memory serves me correctly, once I turned the wheel in the middle of the map to engage the bridge, that was when I got the achievement!:

So not only are these items good for this achievement, they are pretty good items to keep an eye out for and helping you stay alive during the game!

On the flip side, you will want to stay away from these items if you go for the "I'm going to need a doctor after this - Defeat an enemy while having all negative statuses" achievement, since you actually need to get all 4 curses in place, but that is another guide all together!
