ARTIST'S NOTES:

Many people may not know about double barreled rifles and assume that The Poacher’s Pride is a double barreled shotgun. Well there is probably a reason most folks don’t know about double barreled rifles and that was price. Double barreled rifles cost about 10 to 50 times more than a double barreled shotgun so the few people who owned them were either wealthy or professional hunters. Back in the day before semiautomatic rifles, double barreled rifles were often preferred over bolt action rifles for two reasons: They could get a second shot quicker, if they were attacked by a dangerous animal, and that they were often built to fire bigger bullets. It was for this second reason that double barreled rifles were often called “Elephant Guns” as they could shoot down an elephant with a single shot.
