I'm not sure. Try pressing the grab button only when you're close to the ledge. Or maybe the opposite, pressing it as soon as you jump.

after some harsh trial and error it looks like the silverish tile that you jump to opens the door, and starts a timer.

I don't understand secret #4 in "st Francis' Folly". even after fallowing every step you do it doesn't open. do you know what the specific triggers are?
