Premise

In this guide I'm going to put links to the mods I use to remaster Fallout New Vegas.
I'm planning to update it as I go along.

If you want to mod Fallout New Vegas like my game, then I recommend using these two guides to help you out, I will be using Tales of two wastelands to have both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas
I'm going to use Vortex to install my mods for the most part, there will be one exception witch I need to install manually (4GB patcher).
This mod list is fully lore friendly.

And use this Nexus link to download the whole list in here:

Then head to External/manual and download/install those separate.
Then turn on Archive Invalidation.
Now just before starting your new game, make sure you go to in-game tweaks section and follow that.
Now you are ready to start playing.
Scroll to the bottom to get an idea of how the game will look with these mods installed

All the mods are also listed separate with links, if you want to use some but not all.
Mod list is updated on 07/27/2025, the mods are added to the collection and are added to the list separate, please look at ''mod update 07/27/2025''

External/manual

Script extender
Go to https://github.com/xNVSE/NVSE/releases/ then scroll down to assets and download ''nvse_6_3_10b.7z'' (name might change if there is a later version of the NVSE)
Once downloaded, just drag it into vortex, the same way you did for the main ttw file and install it.
There is a chance that vortex already installed it for you, but to be sure you have the latest version, click replace file.

4GB Patcher

The 4GB patcher can only be installed manually, so go to the files tab and download first ''4GB Patcher'' manual, and then slow download.
When the download is done, extract it and move the FNVpatch to your fallout new vegas root folder.
If you don't know how to find it, go to your steam library and go to Fallout New vegas, then click on the cog on the right, go to files and then browse local files.
When you have the FNVpatch in your root folder, double click it and a batch file will open, give it a couple seconds to patch and it then will tell you to press any button to close the batch file.

Now the game is from 2GB patched to 4GB, if you use texture mods, this will make it less likely to crash the game (Try to use as many 1K textures where possible)

NVR
I like to use NVR, but this mod needs to be downloaded from Discord.
To get to the right discord group, go to:
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/89085 H2O (I don't H20, but it does look nice. It will cost you a bunch of frames and is in my opinion difficult to edit. However all the mods that would be necessary are installed, so feel free to give it a try and see if you like it)
Then head to the requirements and click on NVR in Off-site requirements.
Then go to Nightly-Builds and download the latest version

To ensure it works, get into the actual game and press 'O' on the keyboard, it will bring up the menu and here you can turn on and off features.
I turned off shadows, it's to much for my Steam Deck.

With stewie tweaks mod installed in the stability section.
There is now a whole new section in the settings menu in the game.
You can adjust everything as you wish, but this is what I changed/turned on myself:

@pit you could try to just move the fallout folders out of steam folder, but I haven't tried that before

I’ve tried that still says files in the folder are currently in use, I even tried to open task manager and closed everything, still same.

@pit, if you want to move Steam from the default install to your PC, you have to close out any steam program including steam and wallpaper engine.
right bottom of your screen there should be a up arrow next to your calendar, click that, then right click steam and then exit steam.
After you moved the files you can start up steam again.

SADLY couldn't get TTW setup due to when i tried to pull program 86 files steam folder out it kept saying files are currently in use. SO idk may have to try through MO2. Any-who thanks for your concern and replies again.

YES!! Had to do some troubleshooting because of some issues with (enhance camera conflicts with NVR) in the ini files, but yes it fully working now.

@pit you have to download the latest version from the discord group from the link.
Then don't unzip the folder you download and in Vortex in the mods tab you can drag and drop the zipped file to the bottom and from there it should install it.
Then in game use O to change settings, some settings only show up in actual game (loaded character)
in my ''How to install Tales of two wastelands easy'' you can see an example of how the vortex mods tab looks

So with the NVR do i just drop the files in Root game file, cause when i try in Vortex is just says not found. Thanks for the guide tho went smoothly until now.

@Old Gregg that is the nice thing about this list, it's modular and you can leave out the mods that are to much for you. I even categorized the Horny mods separate.
Just leave the adult mods away in your download list.
