Beskrivelse

The Ithaca Model 37 is one of the oldest shotguns still in production. Based on a 1915 patent of the Remington Model 17 designed by the famous weapons designer John Browning, and refined by Harry Howland of Ithaca Guns Co. in 1931, it has been continually manufactured by Ithaca Guns Co., and are still produced in present day. During second World War, Ithaca produced the Model 37 and other shotguns for military use.
In 1940, the Department of Defense ordered 1420 Ithaca Model 37 "Trench Guns" from Ithaca Company. These guns were characterized by a shortened barrel length of 20 inches (508mm), a phosphated surface treatment, and the installation of the same barrel insulation cover and bayonet mount as the Winchester Model 1897 trench gun, along with the M1917 bayonet.
