Fixing the mess
Whenever I tried running the game, it only gave me this error.

The problem with this message is that the game installation itself doesnt come with what it seems to require to run properly.

Since I couldnt get this game running for the life of me, I took to the Community Discussions to find out what the hell was going on.

This was also outlined in the thread I found that was very helpful in figuring some things out.

After navigating to the install directory, I tried deleting both patch files "loc_patch_en_1405091038.res" and "patch1405091038.res" as outlined, in my first attempt at running the game.

This did not help me even though it worked for OP of the thread.

So I kept reading along and found a post that offered another solution to the problem a little further down.

After navigation to that directory I installed this version of PhysX.

I did everything as outlined and it did in fact work. The game was running.
If this also worked for you, then congratulations.
But there is more to this.

During the process of creating this guide to help others to play this game, I reversed everything I did.
I uninstalled the game and started from the beginning again.
Only to find myself in a situation where after doing the exact same thing again, the game somehow wouldnt run again.

Naturally confused by this I did everything step by step.
Deleting patch files, trying to run the game, didnt work.
Installing PhysX, trying to run the game, didnt work.
Deleting the patch files again, trying to run the game, didnt work.

Everything kept coming up with the same PhysX error again that I had all the way at the beginning.
So my last resort, as some games do require this, was to run it with administrator rights.
And as strange as it was, that ultimately made the game run once more.

But what is even stranger, when I tried it the next day again, it didnt require administrator rights anymore and just ran normally again.

I dont know if completely shutting down Steam or shutting down my PC did something.
I frankly dont know and I already invested too much of time into figuring this out then it ultimately was worth.

All I can say is that the game itself seems to have a life of its own.
