I’ve watched every video on YouTube about this game, and I’ve never seen anyone finish it without losing even once. The best playthroughs always fail at wave 6 or 7 of Stonehold, no matter how flawless the game has been up to that point. I had never seen anyone complete the game without a single defeat—until today.

This guide focuses on the strategy of never losing, aiming for a perfect playthrough centered around Stonehold. While it is possible to finish the game without ever needing to repair the fortress and just gathering resources, this guide is about winning without a single loss.

Out of the four types of towers, I achieved this feat using only archers in all four towers. So, I can’t guarantee that another combination will work. To follow my path, you need to have an intermediate understanding of the game.

Opening Strategy
Open Stonehold by building the Town Hall.
Once completed, upgrade the workers and build the Store with five goblins.
Send the sixth goblin to collect wood and build the Tavern.
The goal is to construct the barracks a few seconds before the first wave and already have eight goblins collecting four wood.

Progression
After the first wave, upgrade workers to level 2 and proceed to wave 3.
After wave 3, upgrade workers to level 3 and move on to wave 4. By this point, you should already be collecting eight wood.
The most important skill in the game is Taunt. It allows you to group enemies together for area damage skills and makes enemies follow you, stopping their attacks on the fortress.
By wave 4, you won’t have a tower to help you yet, but Taunt will be useful from here until the end of the game.
Build the four archer towers, starting with the northeast (NE) tower, followed by the southeast (SE) tower.
Before upgrading to level 2 structures, recruit two orcs.

Defense Pattern Until the End
Preemptive Attack – Analyze whether it’s worth starting the attack a few seconds before the wave begins, only if no workers are carrying resources. If no workers are returning, you will only have time to group enemies, so start the attack in a dense enemy area using Jump Skill, followed by Wheel, Quake, and Knock (in that order), then immediately retreat to the fortress. The goal of this attack isn’t to kill but to delay enemies at the attack site.

Fighting and Boss Arrival – Fight normally until the first boss reaches the fortress. Use Taunt near the fortress to draw all nearby enemies from the walls. At that exact moment, release the orcs, as the enemies will be focused on you. Use your skills when surrounded, then flee so the enemies follow you, allowing the towers and orcs to handle the rest. Return when your skills have recharged. Archers are fast and weak, but their attack speed combined with the orcs will quickly take down any enemy, especially enemy ballistas.

First Stonehold Skill – The first skill to purchase in Stonehold should be Taunt, for increased range and faster cooldown.

Once you master the initial setup up to wave 4 for maximum resource efficiency, understand when to start an attack or not (which is crucial if workers are returning), and use the Taunt-Orc release-area skill combination in enemy clusters, you’ll notice that your fortress will barely take any damage.

Final Reminder: Never let Taunt sit idle, but don’t use it too early either. Wait until the first boss reaches the wall and use it near the wall to attract all enemies from the four sides attacking it.
