Intro.
Greetings adventurers!
It's Fighting Fantasy meets Star Trek this time round.
You are the captain of the starship "Traveller". After a manoeuvre goes disastrously wrong, your starship is sucked into the notorious black hole "Seltsian Void".
You regain consciousness to discover that your starship has passed thru the black hole into an unknown parallel universe.
You must travel this alien world and search for info that can help you lead your crew safely back home to earth, via another black hole.
Stats.
As well as rolling your own skill, stamina and luck stats, you have a crew who each have individual skill and stamina scores and specialist skills. Your starship also has weapons & shields scores.
In addition to the traditional hand-to-hand combat system, there are rules for phaser battles (quick & deadly) and ship-to-ship battles.
It takes a while to setup all of these stats which makes it all the more bizarre because, if you follow the perfect route to complete the game, you will face no battles and no skill tests or luck tests in your entire journey.
(Remember that bit at the start of all FF books which states that, if you find the optimum route, you can still triumph even if you have low stats? How we all laugh at that bit, but this time it's really true.)
However, if you wanna complete all of the Steam achievements, you will need some of these stats.

The game seems very short if you follow the optimum route, but then the original book was only 340 references, not the usual 400.

There are 27 artworks in the gallery. Some of these are found during the winning walkthru and are marked in bold type where they occur. The remainder require different routes and are described in a separate chapter at the end of this guide.

I have also provided a walkthru for the original "standalone" version of this game on the respective page for those who are interested.

Steam Achievements.
There are seven Steam achievements for this title.
Three are self-explanatory: Free-read win, Adventurer win & Hardcore Hero win. Simply follow this guide to complete the quest in each mode.
None of the other four achievements are completed during the main walkthru. They are unlocked as follows:

Manic Miners:
At the start of the game turn to starboard towards the barren system. Then, investigate the small asteroid cluster. Risk sending one of your crew. (Choose the one with the lowest stats.)
* Roll 1d6:
1: Roll 1d6 again: 1-3: Continue as if you had rolled 2-5 above. 4-6: Success!
2-5: Choose asteroid #1. Roll 1d6 again: 1: They are killed by an asteroid. Choose another crew member and try again at *. 2-6: Success!
6: They are killed by an asteroid. Choose another crew member and try again at *.

Alien For Hire!:
At the start of the game turn to starboard towards the barren system. Then, continue as you are. Hook into an auxiliary power source. Choose -3 shields.
Roll 2d6: </=shields score: -1 shields, >shields score: -2 shields, double 6: -5 shields
Go to battle stations.
Defeat enemy ship We: 8, Sh: 7
Beam down to search for deposits. Choose both security guards.
Choose security guard with lowest skill.
Take a sample of yellow mineral powder.
Beam up. Set course for the double star.
Call for a sedative.
Roll 1d6: 1-4: ok, 5-6: your other security guard -3 sta
Medical Officer's skill test. (You must roll below her skill score to pass this skill test.)
Pass: ok, Fail: security guard dies.
Head towards the double star.
Take up her offer and beam down.
Ask to see the city. Explore the city further. You are determined to go on.
Win phaser fight against scavenger: Sk 8. (You fire first.)
Allow the female Macommonian (Aluniya) to join your crew. (Sk 9 St 12, inflicts 3 sta damage)
(To rejoin the main walkthru at **, head into deep space towards the radio signal source. You can still complete the mission from here.)

Let Them Die:
Follow the main walkthru until you reach the grey planet. When the crew return to the ship, instead of sealing off the docking bay, jettison the recon plane.

Bar Brawler:
(You can only unlock this achievement if you still have all six of your first-choice crew: Science Officer, Medical Officer, Engineering Officer, Security Officer & both Security Guards.
If you do this achievement in the same playthru as "Alien For Hire!" you can trade the yellow mineral powder, rather than crew members, for entry to the Laur-Jamil space port.
Unfortunately Aluniya, the Macommonian guard, cannot contribute to the bar-brawl as she won't enter the space port. A real pity, as she would have been extremely helpful here.)

Follow the main walkthru until you pass the planet Malini but then investigate the large, wheel-shaped structure instead of the black planet.
Attempt to bargain.
Offer the yellow mineral powder, if you have it.
Otherwise, roll 1d6 for each crew member. 1-5: ok, 6: lose crew member
Ask whether there are recreation facilities. Invite the crew.
You and every crew member must each defeat an alien: Sk 6-8, St 4-7
(You can use luck tests to help your crew members, as well as in your own combat. It doesn't matter if you run down your luck score as there are no more luck tests after this point anyway.)
Map.
This is a map of the parallel universe.
The red lines mark the route for the winning walkthru.
The pink lines mark the variations from the optimum route required to complete the remaining four Steam achievements. The pink asterisks mark the approximate locations of these.
