You have to set the resolution in the config. It has to match your desktop resolution. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL 2 Sturmovik 1946 - Conf

This fix works fine on my Win 11 Pro machine, I have no idea why it doesn't work on other computers, If I had to guess it's likely an issue with newer hardware.

yeah it seems to not work with most modern systems which is a shame. The older laptop i have used windows 10 i have yet to find out to get this gold flight sim to run on a windows 11 yet

I found i don't need to turn it off, when you get to DEP you will want to turn it on for essential windows services only the top option on Windows 10. Not sure if this is the same Windows 11.

There is another work around which inovles going into advanced system settings and turning off DEP (Data Executuion performance) or adding the exe of il2-46 as an exception. In case the former doesn't work just turn it off all together but remember to renable it once the game session is done or when you go to look on the web. Hope this comment helps those trying to get this gem to run
