DXVK & HD Textures + M&KB Settings
By Nelethor
This mod enhances Legacy of Kain: Defiance with high-definition textures, significantly improving the visual quality of the game. It also integrates DXVK, a Vulkan-based translation layer that translates Direct3D 9 calls to Vulkan. This provides improved performance and better graphical rendering, resulting in smoother gameplay and enhanced visual fidelity, particularly on modern systems that support Vulkan.

- Click Open to add the mod files to TexMod.

8. Run the Game with the Mod
- After the package files are loaded into TexMod, click Run.

It worked good for me. I was especially in need for correct settings to make work the joypad - it made it works. Thanks, if you can, make it updated.

@Nelethor Yes... numerous times. It just gives me an indicator that there has been a fatal error with the application.

@destined.royal Did you check if the game runs without the texture mod? You can test it by launching it directly from the game’s folder using "Defiance_REAL.exe".

Unfortunately, it’s not really possible to combine this with the Widescreen Fix by nemesis2000, at least not when using the DXVK since both use a d3d9.dll file. You could try dragging and dropping the Widescreen Fix and replacing the existing d3d9.dll, but that would remove the DirectX to Vulkan translation (DXVK), which may reduce performance. Still, it might be worth testing if the game doesn’t natively support your monitor’s resolution. The texture mod should still work even with the Widescreen Fix, so you can run the game the same way after.

I'm having no luck running this after going over the precise directions, step by step...

Steam indicates that it is running the game, but when I hit the "Run" button after selecting the folder and applying the mods in TexMod, it shows a brief loading cursor for my mouse position, and then NOTHING... (sigh)

Great work putting together this package! It works as advertised.

Is there any way of combining this with the Widescreen Fix (by nemesis2000), since they both use a D3D9 renderer? That would be spectacular.

Hey Cassian. I checked & everything works fine on my side so i'm not really sure how i can help you. Can you tell me what GPU you have? Maybe it has something to do with vulkan rendering.

I actually crash running this. I know steam updated to the 1.1 version that supports widescreen and such, is this before that? Cause it runs fine without it, in 1440p, but ida liked textrues

I followed the well laid out instructions and everything went smooth. game looks and runs great considering how these old games don't like the new hardware/software we have now a days. i can say i can trust this mod so far and if it gets buggy ill let yall know.

Perfect timing because I played the remastered Soul Reaver games and looked here for some graphical push for Defiance.
This worked like a charm.
Thank you and take my points.
