The Core Gameplay Loop
Destiny 2 revolves around:
  • Combat: Use guns, abilities, and strategy to defeat enemies.
  • Loot: Collect weapons, armour, and materials to grow stronger.
  • Activities: Complete quests, strikes, and events for rewards.
  • Progression: Increase your Power Level and upgrade gear.

Destiny Has 3 Classes with Unique Subclasses
  • Hunter: The agile class. Masters of stealth and precision.
  • Warlock: The mage class. Excels in healing and area-of-effect damage.
  • Titan: The tank class. Focuses on defences and melee combat.

Each class has three main elemental subclasses:
  • Solar: (fire based abilities) orange
  • Arc: (electricity-based abilities) light blue
  • Void: (dark energy and debuffs) purple
  • Additional subclasses like Stasis (ice) dark blue, Strand (grappling and crowd control) green and Prismatic (light and dark) pink are unlocked later.

When You First Login
  • Complete the New Light campaign. This tutorial introduces Destiny's mechanics, story, and world.
  • You'll explore the Cosmodrone and gain access to the Tower, Destiny's main social hub.

New Light Campaign Skip and Kits
Bungie has added a feature that will allow players to skip the (tutorial) introductory New Light campaign and jump straight into the Tower and get the New Light Kit bundles which includes:
  • 2 Legendary weapons
  • 1 Exotic weapon
  • 4 rare armour pieces and a Legendary class item
  • Subclass abilities such as Aspects and Fragments
  • A short quest for Exotic armour

Destiny 2 Offers Various Activities
PvE (Player vs Environment)
  • Strikes: Short co-op missions (ideal for beginners).
  • Public Events: World events where Guardians fight together.
  • Lost Sectors: Small, dungeon-like areas with a boss and loot.
  • Seasonal Activities: Rotating events that reward gear.
PvP (Player vs Player)
  • Crucible: Competitive matches like Control (capture zones).
  • Gambit: Hybrid PvE/PvP mode where you defeat enemies and invade other players' arenas.

Power Levels
  • Power Level represents your character's strength.
  • Increase it by equipping higher-level weapons and armour.
  • Gear rarity from lowest to highest: Common (white/green) > Rare (blue) > Legendary (purple) > Exotic (yellow).
How to Increase Power
  • Complete story missions and strikes.
  • Play weekly challenges for Powerful or Pinnacle Gear.
  • Upgrade gear using materials like Glimmer, Legendary Shards, and Upgrade Modules.

Social Hub
The Tower is your main hub where you'll:
  • Collect bounties from NPCs like Zavala, Shaxx, and Banshee-44.
  • Decode engrams (loot drops).
  • Upgrade and customise gear.
Key Vendors:
  • Zavala: Strikes and Vanguard missions.
  • Shaxx: Crucible PvP.
  • Drifter: Gambit activities.
  • Banshee-44: Gunsmith who offers weapon upgrades.
More vendors awaits you in the Tower.

Weapons & Armour
Weapons
You can carry:
  • Kinetic: No elemental damage.
  • Energy: Deals elemental damage (useful for shielded enemies).
  • Power: Heavy hitters like rockets or swords ideal for bosses.
Armour
  • Equip Legendary or Exotic armour for perks that boost your abilities.
  • Customise with mods to enhance stats like resilience (health), mobility (stamina), or intellect (consumables/grenades).

Note: You can only equip one exotic armour and weapon at a time!

Campaign & Expansions
The game has rich lore spanning multiple campaigns:
  • Start with the Legacy Content in the Director (e.g Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, Witch Queen).
  • Engage in Seasonal/Episodic Story-lines for ongoing narratives.

Lone Wolf or a Team?
  • Clans are communities that can be accessed in-game and on Bungie.net that are created and managed by players.
  • Clans provide many features that allow the community of players within the Clan to play and progress together, communicate, manage, and build their community.
  • Makes it easier to find teammates for harder missions (like raids/nightfalls).
Clan Progression Features:
  • Clan XP and Level: Players can view their Destiny 2 Clan's XP gains, individual contribution, and Clan Level from the Clan Profile.
  • Clan Perks: Clan Members can view the available and unlocked Clan Perks from the Clan Banner item in their Character Inventory.
  • Weekly Clan Engrams: Clan Members can view the Clan's progress towards the Weekly Clan Engrams from the Clan Profile.
  • Guided Games: Clans can participate as guides in Guided Games to help solo players through endgame activities.
Clan Steward
As you make your way though Destiny 2 you’ll be introduced to a host of NPCs that offer you help and gear. Hawthorne is one of the first you establish connection with and she becomes the Clan Steward once you finish the story.

Tips and Tricks
  • Dont hoard gear early: Always equip higher Power Level items (dont worry you can make your guardian look cooler by equipping ornaments).
  • Experiment with Subclasses: Try different builds to find what suits your play-style.
  • Join fireteams: Play with friends or use Destiny's LFG (LookingForGroup) feature for team-based activities like Raids.
  • Play Season/Episodic Content: Seasonal rewards and events provide great loot!

well, i'm not sure about exotics, but I was able to play echoes during revenant.

@PK Tang as far as I’m aware the episodes work like seasonal events but I could be wrong so if you missed it theres no going back, you can check your directory/quest logs if nothing is showing then unfortunately you’ve missed out. In terms of any weapons other than exotics they should be a random world drop and the exotics should be redeemable from the exotic kiosk I believe in the tower as when you normally miss the exotic on the season pass thats where you can purchase it. Hope that helps :)

Hi, I have just purchased the annual pass, could I play back the episode of echoes and revenant and get the exotic items, or I can only play on episode: heresy?

I am new player. It was a little frustrating in the beginning to understand how everything works, where to find BUNDHE44 for example :) But now I am hooked. There is sooo much to do :) Shame I did't red this guide before!

if you never played destiny 2 then please dont half the game is missing and what is left is 300+ dollars worth of dlc and season passes that more than half of is kinda trash. its an absolutely amazing game but fcking terrible for new players to join in
