Use Switch HORI Drum on Steam
Por Bug
This guide will show you how to get the Switch version of the HORI Drum Controller working with the Steam version of Rhythm Festival.

This is a one-time setup, so after you follow these steps once, your drum will automatically work in future sessions!

You can also follow this guide for other controllers or drums that aren't automatically recognized by the game
(As long as your PC recognizes them as controllers. This guide will not work for peripherals that are recognized as keyboards.)

The HORI drums have a history of having very poor responsiveness when brand new, so you have to hit them hard and they may or may not become more sensitive over time. I hope this is the cause for missed inputs mentioned in some comments and not a technical issue that I can't help with.

There are guides online for mods that can improve the sensitivity, but they require disassembly of the drum. I can't provide support for those that attempt this.

This Japanese review says that the new drums designed for PC, PS5 and Xbox have greater sensitivity out of the box than previous drums: https://youtu.be/LD6hhdtYhVo?si=QaydgRtltiaRhOgY

Buy both the $60 one and $100 one off Amazon and return the cheaper one if it doesn't work or the more expensive one if it does work.

Does it seem to be completely working for anyone except OP? I’m thinking of buying one but if its true that it only picks up 30% of the inputs I’m not sure about spending that amount of money

What a disappointment. Like others have said, basically unplayable since it only gets picked up 30% of the time. Guess I'm returning both drums to Amazon. If anyone can confirm that the newly released HORI controllers for PS5 and Windows works please do so. Shame that they're almost twice as expensive though.

I configured mine but like a couple of others have mentioned not all of the inputs are getting detected 100% of the time and there is input delay so makes it pretty unplayable

See if Steam recognizes the don inputs in Settings > Controller > Begin Test.

Yeah, no dons. I did make sure its set to drum controller, I wonder if I got a faulty controller. I tried rebinding it a few times and on another PC but no luck.

@MoistMexican Are your dons not working at all? Make sure you pick "Play with the Drum Controller" otherwise the game will not accept the L3 and R3 buttons which are used for dons.
