Step One: Rquirements and recommendations
(note: Please Rate when you are done)

Okay now, one of the easiest, and also complex at the same time.

Okay, what you will need to do before you ever even download and open SFM is be sure your computer meets the requirements(Must have Windows 7 / Vista / 10 Once in a while, it will also work on windows 8 or 8.1 just fine); to do this; locate your Windows start menu and search RAM. Select the one that says "Show how much RAM is on this computer"

Under "System" find the one labled with "Prossesor:" and find what is says there, must have at least a 2.5GHz dual core prossesor Unless you want to deal with very bad lag and hard to do anything on. (e.x. AMD Athlon(TM) II X4 635 CPU P9700 @ 3.26GHz)

Also, find where it lists "Installed Memory (RAM)" this is recommended to have 6GBs or more.

Once you have done this, download SFM to your computer, this may take a few hours, I suggest doing this overnight.(Beware, SFM uses roughly 15GBs of your HDD space)

Step Two: Starting SFM
Okay, so, SFM tends to be very sensitive when opening. If you have a slower computer, I recommend closeing most of your other applications before doing this.

Once you have closed most of your apps, you can now proceed in oppening SFM. Double-click the SFM icon on your desktop, or launch it from your Steam library. Be sure to not click off of this loading screen. If you click off of it, Windows may think it stops resopnding, then it will try to close it, so be carefull.

Once open, go ahead and create a new game.

That is it for this step! (Move to Step Three)
Step Three: Learning SFM
Now that you have made it this far, lets first learn some of the tools we have here.

Along the bottem you will see the timeline, this will be used quite a bit, it will display any animation sets currently in the time given. to the left you have your Element Viewer, this with show all of your assests in the sequence. You are going to locate the "Windows" tab at the top left in SFM.

Hover over "Layouts" and select custom Layout 5, you now can re-arange the windows to look somewhat like this.

Step Four: Loading a Map

Now that you have the screen above, you can now load a map by right clicking and selecting "Load Map" this will open a new window. In this new window i suggest not useing the search, for it tends to be slightly unreliable; instead, scroll through untill you find the map you wish to use.
Step Five: Loading a Model
by reading this you have blown my mind, i was not expecting many to read this.

Let's get to work here. So, over to the left, in your Animation Set Editor, there is a "+" button, this will once again bring up a big list. The search tends to be mosly unreliable here also, so i suggest to use the sorting instead.
Part Six: Animating a Model
Once you have loaded a model, it will appear infront of your scene camera. To move your camera left-click and move with, W,A,S,D,Z, and X (must be holding down the left button on your mouse).

I really appreciate this - almost every other 'basic' gameplay guide was 'the basics to advanced lighting' or some other such thing. A real newb like me appreciates this very much. Thank you!

One thing to try might be clicking on the "windows" tab in the ribbon and setting to default
