Backpack locations for Beta 0.6.2 including Full Map of the area.
I have confirmed more than 12 backpacks, which is more than enough to give you full inventory.

Two bags located in the military area East of the White House, far Eastern edge of the map.

First one is located at the top of the red & white tower.


Second one is in the medical building. You can see it through the window

and access it through the opposite wall. You do not need access to the building to get the pack, and sometimes crouching might help.

On the roof of the gas station across from the Paradise Motel.


You can move crates or use the trailer (with roof rack) to reach the roof of the garage. Bag is located near the HVAC system on the roof of the store.

There are two bags located in the Paradise Motel, one on each level.

The first is located in the back room of the main hotel lobby. This can only be access through the back door, since the door from the lobby area is permanently blocked. Circle around to the right upon entering the motel along the sidewalk next to the building. The door faces the right stair leading down to the rooms (and the bloat). It is behind some boxes and cannot be seen from the door.


The second is in the North maintenance room that also has the generator for the North wing. It is directly opposite the door. The maintenance doors are not locked.

There are two bags in the East Hunting Area, bottom right corner of the map. One is in Rick's Camp, and the other is outside of the small shack that also serves as a start-up location.

The bag in Rick's Camp is on top of the red & white tower.


The bag near the starter building is in passenger seat of the yellow car. Just open the door and grab.

There is one bag located on the roof of the restaurant at the far South end of the map. This building is just downhill and across the street from the garage where you can find one of the red trucks. You can move some boxes and use them to reach the top of the restaurant area.

There are two bags located around the Sawmill Area.

One bag is located in the West section of the sawmill underneath the administration building. This is the building where you can find the white SUV. Go behind the white SUV and underneath the building where the concrete blocks and bags are found. The bag is tucked away behind a pair of orange & white barrels.


The other bag is located in the central West area near the two towers and a sealed building containing several infected. The bag is actually in the outhouse! (found by kj5ix)

There is one bag in the West Hunting area. It is located on top of the red & white tower next to the Southern watch tower and small hunting camp. The area is infested with bears.

One bag can be found near the Old Mine on the road between the Old Mine and the Old Waterworks. (found by kj5ix)

The bag is tucked behind the barriers in front of the two wrecked vehicles.

There are two bags located in the Community Area.

One bag is located in the residence near the small lake at the top of the South-West road leading around the Community Area. The house is home to several infected, but they all reside on the ground floor. The bag is on the first floor up under the stairs leading to the second floor, and there is very little of interest on the second floor up.


Another bag is located between the previous residence and Jame's house near a pile of pallets. (found by kj5ix)

Two bags can be found inside the Old Community Church.

The first bag is in the sanctuary behind the pulpit in the corner. You have to destroy the "thumper" thing using the flame thrower to reveal the bag.


The second bag is in the right ante-room. This is not the one that leads outside and has more infected growths. Once you get the first bag, just turn right and go through that small side door. There is a small and relatively clean room, and the bag will be right there.

There is one bag located inside the school building.

The bag is located on the ground floor in the Custodian's Chamber. You need to acquire the School Key Card in order to open it. That card is located across the hall in the gymnasium next to the skeleton (presumably of the custodian). The gym is guarded by a Bloat. Once you have the card, either by stealth or victory, just use it to open the door.

The bag is hanging on a metal table just right of the door, but don't forget to check out the rest. There is lots of good stuff in there.
