Run Gray Matter on Windows 11

Gray Matter doesn't run correctly, if at all, on Windows 11 without additional steps. This guide explains the steps that worked for me.

Post Installation Instructions
Perform the following steps after Steam has downloaded the game to your PC.

  1. Right-click on Gray Matter in your Steam Library, highlight Manage and then left-click Browse local files.


  2. Open the directx9 folder.


  3. Run DXSETUP.exe and complete the installation process.


  4. Go back to the base game folder and open the MicrosoftNETFramework folder.


  5. Run NETCFSetupv2.msi and complete the installation process.

Gray Matter should now run on your Windows 11 PC. Be aware that although the game's configuration tool lists ultra-wide screen resolutions, the digital videos in the game do not get scaled correctly. I play the game in 2560x1440, windowed mode with satisfactory results.
