Basic Video Settings
Display Mode:
  • Windowed
  • Borderless Window
  • Fullscreen (Recommended)
Reasons: Supports non-standard resolutions and the command r_fullscreen_gamma (set to 2.8 or 3 for brightness and visibility of enemies).

Advanced Video Settings
Clear Options:
  • Boost Player Contrast: On (easier to spot enemies).
  • Vertical Sync: Off (can cause input lag).
  • Shader and Particle Quality: Low.
  • HDR: Performance.
  • FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR): Off (if your PC gives 100+ FPS).
  • Ambient Occlusion: Off (saves FPS).
  • Available for NVIDIA graphics card owners.
  • Enable if possible. Use Boost setting if FPS is high.
Texture Filtering:
Anisotropic 4x: Improves texture sharpness with minimal FPS drop.

Anti-Aliasing:
  • 4xMSAA: If possible.
  • CMAA2: If you need more frames.
Don't fully disable anti-aliasing.

Model and Shadow Quality:
Set to high. Affects image quality and the importance of shadows for holding positions.

These settings will help you achieve the best balance between performance and graphic quality in CS2. \//

How to Set 4:3 Resolution

The 4:3 resolution stretches the screen, enlarging models, and is used by most pro players. However, it significantly reduces the field of view.
  1. Go to CS2 settings.
  2. Open the "Display" menu and go to the "Graphics" submenu.
  3. Ensure that "Display Mode" is set to "Fullscreen".
  4. In the "Aspect Ratio" section, select "Normal, 4:3".
  5. Choose the appropriate resolution.
  6. Click "Apply Changes".
Important: After changing the resolution, the monitor's refresh rate may reset to 60Hz. Don't forget to set it to the maximum value.

Launch Options

To optimize the game, you can use launch options. Follow these steps to set them:
  1. First, right-click on the game in your Steam library.
  2. Then, go to properties.
  3. On the "General" tab, find the launch options field.
  4. For maximum performance, enter the following command:
-high -threads 6 +fps_max 0 +cl_interp 0 +cl_interp_ratio 1 +rate 124000 +cl_updaterate 128 +cl_cmdrate 128 +mat_queue_mode 2 -freq 165 -refresh 165 -d3d9ex -nojoy
These options will help optimize the game, increasing frame rates and reducing latency.

Useful Info About Crosshairs
Your Crosshair – it's your best friend and your worst enemy at the same time. A poorly configured crosshair can make shooting either easier or completely impossible.
Some newbies stick with the default crosshair, which is like trying to play darts in the dark. Don't do that. Let's break down what you should pay attention to:

  • Crosshair Color: Choose a bright, noticeable color. Green, for example, works well on most maps.

  • Size and Thickness: A small crosshair gives you the illusion of precision. A large crosshair makes you feel like you're shooting a cannon. Find the golden middle.

  • Dynamics: A static crosshair is as stable as your confidence before your first date. A dynamic crosshair will wobble, showing you how little control you have over recoil. With the release of CS2, they added the “follow recoil” function. This feature lets you see where the next bullet in the burst will go. However, I don’t recommend using it. It's better to learn spray control on your own. You can practice this on a map designed for this purpose. (To add the map to your library, simply subscribe to it. We’ll get back to maps a bit later.)

Map for Crosshair Customization
You can customize your crosshair in the settings, but it's more convenient to do it on a special map.
I highly recommend the map Crashz Crosshair Generator.

*Crashz Crosshair Generator – it's the holy grail for CS players, brought over from CS
to CS2. Here, you can customize all crosshair settings, just like in the game settings, and even more.
Where will you be killed

Get to Know the Maps – the places where you'll be spending your time spectating, watching others play. Each map has its own callouts for every position. At the start, you don’t need to remember them all, but it will be useful for team communication. Let’s break down the most popular maps for beginners:

Dust 2: The Legendary Dust

Dust 2 – this isn’t just a map, it’s a legend that’s become an integral part of Counter-Strike history. Even if you've never played CS2, you've heard of Dust 2.
I'm not going to tell you how to play this map.
Someone else can do it better, like this guy. Or you can check out this article. [bo3.gg]
On the pro scene, the map ranks fourth, despite being out of the map pool for two years. On Faceit, it holds third place, and in matchmaking, it’s the second fastest in queue times.

Mirage: The Oasis of Simplicity and Endless Hate
Mirage – is a true gem of Counter-Strike. It’s the most popular map on the pro scene (played 18,800 times – 2,300 times more than Inferno) and in matchmaking, where it always has the shortest queue times. Mirage is structurally very simple: there are three main lanes where the action happens.

Inferno: The Hellish Cauldron of Strategies and Grenades
Inferno – is the second most popular map on the pro scene, making it a true favorite among professional players. Its simplicity is deceptive. At first glance, it seems straightforward: each bombsite has only one path, and controlling it helps win the round. But once you start playing, you'll realize it's not that simple.

The structure of the economy: A little more complicated than ours.

Economy - How to Survive on $700
Financial literacy is essential in Counter-Strike 2 as well. If you want to win, learn how to manage your in-game currency wisely. Let’s dive into how to earn and spend your hard-earned cash effectively.

Where the Money Comes From
In CS2, you earn in-game currency by completing various missions:
  • Winning or losing a round.
  • Planting or defusing the C4.
  • Killing an enemy (except for attackers who survive after the time runs out – those poor souls get no money).
  • Kill rewards vary by weapon.
Earnings per kill depend on the weapon:
  • All pistols (except CZ75-A) – $300.
  • CZ75-A – $100.
  • Shotguns – $900.
  • SMGs (except P90) – $600.
  • P90, rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles (except AWP) – $300.
  • AWP – $100.
  • Knife – $1500.
  • Grenade – $300.
  • Taser Zeus X27 – nothing (yep, absolutely nothing).
Additional Rewards
  • Winning a round – $3250.
  • Winning by bomb explosion – $3500 (attackers).
  • Defusing the C4 – $3500 (defenders).
  • Losing – $1400 for the first lost round, increasing by $500 up to a maximum of $3400.

Types of Purchases
  • Economy (Eco): When money is tight ($2000 or less), don’t buy anything or stick to a P250. The goal for attackers is to plant the C4, and for defenders, to take out as many enemies as possible.
  • Anti-Eco: After winning a round, buy SMGs or shotguns to earn more money from kills.
  • Full Buy: Purchase the best equipment – AK and AWP for attackers, M4 and AWP for defenders. Don’t forget grenades and armor.
  • Half Buy: If you can’t afford a full buy, get cheap rifles or pistols, some grenades, so you have enough for a full buy in the next round.
  • Forced Buy: Spend all available money in critical situations.

Game Customization

Crashz Crosshair Generator

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3070193546

The most important map every player should have. Crashz Crosshair Generator allows you to fully customize your crosshair: thickness, line length, color, dynamic behavior, and even add a dot in the center. A huge plus is the variety of presets from pro players and streamers that you can apply with a single click. You can also test your crosshair visibility across all maps and practice shooting bots with it.

Crashz Viewmodel Generator

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3070284069

Less popular but equally important for adjusting the position of your hands on the screen. You can almost completely hide your hands or center them on the screen. There are several presets available to quickly choose the desired hand placement. CS2 restricts the customization of hand positions, but the map is already adapted for the new game – you won't be able to set prohibited values.

Training Maps

Aim_botz

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3070244462

The most popular training map retains all its functions: bots can move, you can define their zones, adjust their helmets and armor, choose any weapons, and enable headshot-only mode. Many use Aim_botz for quick warm-ups before matches, while others use it for extensive shooting practice. Currently, weapon skins in the attack mode don't work on the map, and some features have bugs that are regularly fixed.

CSGOHUB

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3070389038

The most advanced training map in CS has migrated to CS2 with a new name – CSStats. Currently, its functionality is limited to bot training only, but future updates promise additional modes like prefire training, surfing, and bunny hopping. Developers mention that adding these features is currently impossible due to the limited functionality of maps in CS2 – third-party scripts don't work.

My Favorite Training Map

Aim Rush

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3105821815&searchtext=aim+rush

Here, you can practice shooting on maps with cover and elevations. Bots move around the map, making training more dynamic and effective.

A few words about the meaninglessness of life

Communication
Remember, everyone on your team is a dumb school kid. But you, you know it all, so don't be afraid to take the lead and clutch those rounds.

Skills
Developing your skills is great. But remember, even after hundreds of hours of practice, someone with cheats might still outplay you.

Toxicity
In CS2, toxicity isn't a bug, it's a feature. You'll learn a lot about yourself and your relatives.

Most importantly, don't rage-quit the game. It's better for everyone. Give flowers to your mom or go fishing with your dad <3
I'll be happy to get your feedback ^-^
