History
"The Forest" starts with a plane crash on a mysterious and isolated island. The player takes on the role of Eric LeBlanc, one of the survivors, whose son, Timmy, is kidnapped by a native just after the crash. The main objective is to find and save Timmy while surviving the many dangers of the island.

To do this, the player must collect resources such as food and water, build shelters, and craft tools. The island is vast and varied, with dense forests, beaches, and caves to explore. The caves, in particular, contain crucial resources and clues about Timmy's fate.

The player also has to face enemies, including hostile cannibal tribes and mutant creatures. Building fortified bases and traps allows the player to protect themselves and capture animals for food. The game also offers a cooperative multiplayer mode, allowing multiple players to collaborate to survive and explore together. As the player progresses, they discover items and clues that gradually reveal the story and events that led to this situation.
Survival Rules
  • Do not fight except as a LAST resort! You are at a disadvantage against the cannibals on this island, who have become agile, resistant, and strong over generations of survival. Your only effective weapons will be patience, strategy, and FIRE!

  • Do not attempt to barricade yourself or hide in a building you have constructed or in a tree. This will only trap you in a restricted and destructible space.

  • IF fleeing is not an option, use fire to repel the cannibals. Almost all weapons can be upgraded with flammable cloth or alcohol. They will hesitate to attack you as long as you have a flame source.

  • If you find "red paint" or "blood" cans, put it on yourself. This will set you on the right path to finding your child, and most enemies will no longer attack you.

  • Fight near a water source so you can wash off the blood of the natives; otherwise, you risk a severe infection.

  • Avoid moving around at night. The cannibals, similar to "vampires," prefer to come out at night, even though they also move during the day.

  • Mud will become your best ally if you prefer to advance strategically and stealthily.
Cannibals and Mutants
In 'The Forest', there are several types of cannibals and mutants, each with distinct behaviors and appearances.
Here are the types of cannibals and mutants present in the game:

I - Cannibals
  • So-called "regular" cannibals: These are the most common and come in different variations, both male and female. They can be slightly clothed with loincloths and body paint. They often appear in groups ranging from 2 to 5 individuals, with a leader recognizable by their clothing or a skull hanging above their head.
Note: Regular cannibals often remain passive and attack only if provoked.

  • So-called "starved" cannibals: These cannibals are thinner and often more aggressive than regular cannibals. They seem to be constantly searching for food. Warning, they are faster than regular cannibals! Unlike regular cannibals, the "starved" ones are much less organized and thus more unpredictable. They like to scare you by attacking only once and then running away, never to return.

  • So-called "throwers" cannibals: They throw fiery projectiles at you! This group of cannibals seems most often to attack your buildings. The projectiles they throw can set you on fire as well as the different objects/structures surrounding you. You must absolutely eliminate them as quickly as possible. The best solution is to rush at them and kill them as quickly as possible before they set you on fire.

  • So-called "pale" cannibals: They come in two forms: "regular" or "starved". They are simply an upgraded version of the base cannibals with more health points and damage. You will rarely find them on the surface as they appear primarily in the caves.

  • So-called "masked" cannibals: Like the previous group ("pale"), the masked cannibals are reinforced versions of ordinary cannibals. In this case, they are the most powerful among the cannibals mentioned above that you can encounter. Unlike regular cannibals, they can only be found on the surface and not inside the caves. However, they appear around day 22 of your survival.

II - Mutants
  • Armsy: Initially known as the "Octopus mutant", Armsy is a formidable enemy. With three pairs of hands, it is much taller than the main character and the cannibals. Armsy has many health points and deals considerable damage; two hits are usually enough to kill an unarmored player. Its attacks are characterized by chaotic arm movements, making ranged combat with a firearm much safer.
Note: A variant of this mutant, "Blue Armsy", also has a low chance of appearing. Although visually similar to Armsy, its skin is blue. It has more health points and deals more damage.

  • Virginia: Also known as "Spider", she is a formidable mutant with three pairs of arms instead of legs. She deals heavy damage and can kill a player in one or two hits without armor. Virginia can also "give birth" to mutant babies. She can quickly destroy players' structures. Virginia uses various attacks: she strikes with her legs up close and charges from a distance. To avoid damage, you must constantly move and dodge her charges. As with most mutants, it is preferable to face her with ranged weapons or Molotov cocktails.
Note: A variant, "Blue Virginia", may appear. She has more health points and deals more damage. Although visually similar, Blue Virginia has blue skin.

  • Cowman: The third type of mutant in the game is a large deformed creature that uses its body to attack the player. It can charge by adjusting its trajectory to hit a player who jumps, and can also jump into the air to crush the ground, dealing damage on impact. This mutant deals heavy damage and is very resilient. Despite its size, it can move very quickly by charging, easily catching up to a sprinting character. It is therefore preferable to face it with ranged weapons, Molotov cocktails, or bombs, rather than attempting to flee. Like Armsy and Virginia, it can destroy player buildings in a single hit, so it is advisable to lure it away from the base to fight it.

  • Baby: Another type of mutant you will encounter is a deformed baby. Smaller than cannibals, it moves slowly by dragging its body. Don't be deceived; these enemies can "leap" towards the player and deal tremendous damage upon contact. To fight them, it is advisable to block and counterattack after their failed attack. Although they deal heavy damage, they are very fragile and die with a single hit from any weapon.

  • Worms: The "worm mutants" are unique and formidable enemies. They consist of multiple individual segments that can combine to form

various structures, such as towers or wheels. They move quickly and can attack by hurling themselves at you. Although each segment is fragile, their ability to reassemble makes the fight challenging. Using ranged weapons or explosives is often the best strategy to eliminate them effectively.

  • The Girl: Also known as "Megan", she is a boss encountered later in the game. She is the result of scientific experiments and has a grotesque appearance with mutant appendages. She can perform various attacks, including quick strikes and powerful charges. Megan can also summon mutant babies to assist in combat. To defeat her, it is crucial to dodge her attacks and use ranged weapons or explosives while managing the mutant babies she summons.

Achievements - Part I
/!\ COPY PASTE FROM THIS GUIDE! (while waiting for the personalized creation)

Minor cannibalism:
Disgusting achievement, but quite fun to do, pairs perfectly with Major cannibalism, Choppy Chop, and Serial Killer. You need to cook and eat the edible parts of a cannibal.
Personally, I would have called it: Return to Sender. x)

Major cannibalism:
Similar to the first one, but for this one you need to cook and eat 24 body parts (the only edible parts are the arms and legs, their brains aren't perfectly fresh, I wouldn't recommend them).
I would have called it: Irony is Best Served Hot.

Be nice:
Finally, a nice achievement! This one can only be done in multiplayer, you need to get an aluminum tray from the airplane wreckage and combine it with a food or drink item, like a soda or snack, and give it to another player in the game.

Be extremely nice:
The follow-up to the above achievement, but this time you'll be a true Samaritan, as you need to give a weapon (club, axe, bow, etc.) via the aluminum tray to another player.
Survivors need to help each other out. ^^

Crafty:
A very long achievement to obtain because the total item acquisition codes block it. Here are the recipes needed to obtain this trophy. 26 items are normally required, but I only got the achievement after creating all these items in one playthrough, so try it and correct me if I'm wrong via the comments.

Bad father:
You should be ashamed! You would be willing to leave your child in the hands of these dangerous mad cannibals for 100 days while you sip a cocktail in the shade of a palm tree on your deerskin couch?
No, seriously, to get this achievement, just don't save your child for 100 days after the crash. You should get it quite easily if you don't cheat and if, like me, you get lost in a handkerchief. x)

Trophy hunter:
Much more complex than it seems, it should be paired with Bite me! or cheated to receive it. In your construction book, you will have an item called "trophy holder." Create a wall, place 11 "trophy holders," kill an animal of each type, and hang its head.
WARNING: Cutting off the heads of dead sharks doesn't count, you must kill them.
You can also get the heads without hunting by typing the cheat codes "additem 185"; "additem 186" up to "additem 195" and placing them on the "trophy holders."

Green Thumb:
Finally, an achievement that makes you civilized! For this achievement, it's very simple, create either a garden or a planter or both and cultivate the edible and growable plants (three in total, blueberries and marigolds if possible in the garden, as they are quite large, and aloe vera for the planter).

Vegan:
Certainly the most complex achievement, you must neither kill nor eat any animals, and you can't eat human meat either. If an animal throws itself into your campfire, it's over, the achievement won't unlock.
If you prefer to cheat, here's the quickest way. At the beginning of the game, activate god mode, then activate the code addallstoryitems, then activate the code addallitems (with this code, forbidden items for this achievement will appear in your inventory, as long as you don't wear or eat them, it's fine). Finally, type exactly: goto 233 -420 1224

This will take you to the lab door, which you will have the key to if you followed this method, proceed and when you go looking for a living person, take the door labeled (the second artifact) so you won't even have to fight the final boss, but if you want the trophy to drop, {SPOIL}you must bring down the plane and produce a monster.{SPOIL} This very difficult trophy is achievable with this method in 7 minutes. A reminder that in multiplayer all connected players must do it, otherwise, no one will get it.

Naturopath:
A fairly simple achievement, you need to craft 10 healing items from plants, refer to the "Crafty" achievement above for the healing and energy item recipes.

5 Star Hotel:
Particularly simple achievement, you need to find the yacht and sleep there for the night.
Here is its location with code: goto 412 45 1550

You should be looking for Timmy:
To achieve this, you need to build a gazebo anywhere. It's in the crafting book on custom page 2.

Boy Scout:
To get the Boy Scout achievement, just find the compass and use it, the best way to get it is to let yourself die once, when your health drops to zero for the first time, the natives will take you to a cave that contains the cave map and the compass.
Alternatively, you can try to find the cave; it's in the largest native village.

Camp Out:
More complex than it seems because it needs to be done in multiplayer and all players must sleep at the same time, but if the team is good, the achievement will unlock easily.

Splatter:
For this little achievement, you need to attack a cannibal, preferably alone, or kill them all to keep only one and knock them to the ground, favor the club or spear. The club has the advantage of stunning the target, making it vulnerable. The spear does little damage so you have a good chance of knocking it down without killing it. It's up to you to find your preferred technique, but I suggest attacking shamans or white men, as they have good health, increasing your chances of knocking them down. Finally, when the enemy is down, equip a rock and smash their skull with it. ENJOY! ^^

Longest Wall:
This trophy may seem long and tedious, but it's actually very simple. When you ask the books to build a wall (the one with the infinity sign), you only place one end and then leave, letting the "ghost" of the wall follow you. When you've gone a good distance, accept the construction, and if it's long enough, the achievement will unlock, if not, try again, increasing the size. The "ghost" is enough for the achievement.

Choppy Chop:
As I mentioned earlier, this achievement complements Minor and Major cannibalism. Because in those you eat the parts of the bodies, Choppy Chop requires you to cut up 50 bodies.

Unseen:
An uncomplicated achievement, you just need to create and wear a full set of stealth armor. For the recipe, refer to the "Crafty" achievement above.

Commercial Fisherman:
To get this achievement, you first need to find a small body of water, but large enough to contain at least 6 fish, then wait for the fish to gather more or less together and throw an explosive (I recommend either dynamite or the head bomb, they are the most powerful). If you want to do it in multiplayer, every player connected to the server must do it, so it's better to do it solo.

The Forest:
Achievement logically linked to the story, as the achievement means finishing the game. So if you don't want to spoil the story, skip the italicized part.
{SPOIL}
The game, unfortunately, has two endings, and only one of them gives you the achievement. At some point, you'll be in front of a desk with a computer, only press that one. Not the one on the floor, otherwise, you'll get the second ending which doesn't reward anything. If you want to get this achievement quickly, do as for the "Vegan" achievement.
{END SPOIL}
Achievements - Part II
Daily Grind:
This achievement is only attainable in the final phase of the game. When you reach the laboratory, you'll eventually find a cafeteria with coffee machines. Simply serve yourself an espresso (you don't really have any other choice of drinks, sorry. ^^) and take a moment to enjoy the comfort of this beverage before getting back to the grind.

Gross!:
This achievement is easily missable.
When you arrive in the room where you find your child, you’ll see two doors. If you used the "addallstoryitems" cheat, take the one labeled "the second artifact." If you didn't use the cheat, take the other door, kill the boss, and then you’ll receive the keycard that allows you to open the second door. Follow the only available path, being careful not to get lost in the underwater section. You’ll come to a huge room with a gigantic hole in the middle and corpses all around. Don’t bother going down; instead, follow the path of corpses to the left until you see an opening in the wall. Enter it.
You’re back in the laboratory, and from this point on, search all the rooms. Eventually, you’ll come across a water dispenser contaminated by a cannibal head. Drink from it, regret the choice, and the achievement will unlock. Don’t worry, you won’t die from drinking the water, but I admit I haven’t felt very thirsty since. ^^

Serial Killer:
This achievement should come quite quickly if you're playing on minimal difficulties. To get this achievement, just kill 100 cannibals. However, I’m not sure if abominations count for this achievement; that’s something to check.

Make it Rain:
An achievement that can be missed, yet you are required to pass by it. When you enter the laboratory, you’ll quickly come to hallways where the left side is occupied by observation cells emptied of their occupants. In the second hallway, there’s an abomination most of you will prefer to avoid, but to get this achievement, simply set it on fire with a Molotov cocktail, a flaming arrow, the flare gun, or something similar. What matters is that you need to trigger the fire suppression system, but doing so will make the fight more difficult because the mutant will be angry, and the fire suppression system will prevent you from using fire damage weapons.

Get Closure:
A long and tedious achievement, you need to obtain the passenger list at the very beginning of the game and then wander through the caves and villages to find each of the 43 passengers.
Another method is to use the code "findpassenger X" replacing the X with the passenger's seat number. It’s a bit of a long and boring technique, but 100 times faster than searching for a few bodies. Example: "findpassenger 1", "findpassenger 2" etc.

Big Spender:
Upon entering the laboratory, you’ll have the chance to buy drinks or snacks from vending machines. To earn this achievement, purchase a can of soda and a snack.

Bite me!:
This achievement took me a long time to get. You need to kill a shark. That’s it. ^^ I spent 135 days searching for it in normal difficulty mode without ever seeing even a shadow of its fin, even though I circled the island three times. So I started a new game on hard mode and encountered a shark on day zero. The place where you are most likely to find it is the area around the yacht, located here: goto 412 45 1550.
Several methods to kill it include using a bow, a gun, melee for the suicidal, but the simplest way is to throw a tennis ball at its nose, which will one-shot it!
Note: as with other achievements, if you do it in multiplayer, each player must kill a shark for the achievement to unlock for everyone.

Monster:
A simple achievement to obtain except for vegetarians; you need to kill a rabbit by any method. Chase it and kill it with a melee weapon, blow it up with explosives, drop a tree on its head, shoot it with a bow or gun, or capture and skin it. You have the choice, so let your predator instinct guide you.
To animal rights defenders: Put away the pitchforks and torches; these are pixels, not real animals. x)

Gabe fan:
To get this achievement, you need to find the cassettes for the cassette player. There are 5 scattered across the map. Most are found in caves. Only one is found on the beach; there’s a grave on one of the island’s beaches with the cassette player and a cassette.

First Night:
An exceedingly simple achievement to get; survive a full day. Then you have two choices: either sleep in a shelter or spend the night wandering and trying to survive. I would highly recommend sleeping, especially in the first few nights, as it has the benefit of passing the dangerous period, resting your character, and preventing enemies who haven’t seen you from harming you while you sleep.

You are a fun guy:
A fairly simple but potentially dangerous achievement. You need to eat every type of mushroom, even the harmful ones. There are six in total, which you can find in the Nature tab of your booklet.

Survivalist:
Just like First Night but a bit more complex, as you need to survive for 5 days.

Birdeye:
An achievement that may seem difficult but is much easier than expected. You need to shoot down a bird with an arrow. The simplest way is to kill a cannibal, bring its body to the beach, and wait. The seagulls will come to feed, and you can shoot them while they’re perched on the body. Alternatively, you can try to shoot them in mid-flight, but... good luck. ^^

Demolition man:
An achievement that isn’t too difficult, especially in the game’s harder modes where the cannibals relentlessly pursue you. You just need to craft 20 bombs of any type. Finding dynamite doesn’t count for this achievement. For crafting recipes, refer to "Crafty."
This achievement pairs well with Commercial Fisherman and Demolition expert, as you need to use bombs to blow stuff up. ^^

Handyman:
One of the achievements I had the hardest time getting because I didn’t understand the summary. To get this achievement, you need to build a "hunting shelter," damage it yourself or with the help of a neighboring native, and then repair it with an item called "repair tool." For the recipe, see "Crafty." It’s the only building that will grant you the achievement when damaged and repaired.

Good father:
Long and tedious, but very rewarding. For this achievement, you need to find and repair your son’s toy. In the game, it’s split into six parts: a head, a torso, two legs, and two arms. Be careful, there’s a bug in the game; you must place the torso first and then combine it with each part individually, otherwise, you’ll lose a piece that can only be found once.
Alternatively, cheat: here’s how. Use the code "addallstoryitems." Unfortunately, this code gives you the six separate pieces as well as the repaired toy, blocking the achievement, so you need to type the code "removeitem 179" to make the complete toy disappear and then directly repair the toy. Congratulations, achievement unlocked!
Achievements - Part III
Climate change:
You should obtain this achievement during your playthrough, as it simply involves cutting down 100 trees.

Pacifist:
If you prefer strategy and evasion, this achievement should come quickly. You need to survive 10 days and 10 nights (which you can spend sleeping) without killing any cannibals or abominations. Personally, I earned this achievement after day 100 due to an update.

Demolition expert:
Just as Commercial Fisherman requires you to blow up six fish with an explosive, Demolition Expert requires you to blow up six trees with a single explosive. I would recommend using the head bomb or, at the very least, dynamite. This achievement can also be completed in multiplayer, but each player must do it.

Fisherman:
To earn this achievement, you'll need to use your brain or this guide. ^^ Ask the books for a "ghost" rabbit trap, but instead of placing it on the ground, go and place it in a pond with fish. The rabbit trap will then transform into a fish trap. You just need to build it and wait for a fish to get caught in it. Retrieve it, and the achievement should unlock.

Spelunker:
To earn this achievement, you must enter each cave entrance and explore them to about 50%. A cave is considered visited once the line in the objectives is crossed out. There are 10 entrances/exits in total. Here are their locations by code:
Cave 1 (Dead Cave) goto 53 -16 221
Cave 1 (Dead Cave) goto -479 104 601
Cave 1 (Dead Cave) goto 87 84 654

Step Master:
This achievement requires you to obtain an item to complete it, but there are two ways to get it. You can use the code "addallitems" to gain the pedometer, which will count the number of steps you take, or you can search for it in the laboratory. Upon reaching 50,000 steps, the trophy will unlock.

Don't save the Forest:
For this trophy, simply do what you did for the "Climate change" achievement but with a lot more wood. It might not unlock during your playthrough if you are focused on finishing the story, but if you prefer construction, the achievement should unlock once you cut down your millionth tree. You can either blow them up or cut them down. It's up to you.

First responder:
Another achievement only possible in multiplayer, where you need to revive a downed ally before they die from hemorrhage.

Medic:
Just like the achievement above, except you need to do it 10 times. Yes, we know, doctors are without borders. This last achievement concludes our guide on the excellent game "The Forest." With this little guide, you should be able to become a worthy survivor and overcome all the enemies standing between you and your missing child.
