The Problem once again
The problem is the same as with the DoW1 - DivX and the cinematic videos game has. I wrote guide on how to fix it there too.
Even if you skip the intro via launch arguments, the game will start crashing anyway at cinematics. Let's fix it then.
The Solution once again
The solution is very simple - replacing DivxMediaLib.dll, and DivxDecoder.dll in game's directory with new ones download from the internet.

In case you need more specific instructions:
  1. Right-click on the game in the Steam Library and click "Properties"
  2. In the properties window, go to "Installed Files" tab and click "Browse..." to open directory with the game
  3. Delete the DivxMediaLib.dll, and DivxDecoder.dll files
  4. Download the https://www.dll-files.com/divxmedialib.dll.html and https://www.dll-files.com/divxdecoder.dll.html from the internet
  5. Extract the DivxMediaLib.dll, and DivxDecoder.dll files from the archives and copy then into the game's directory, essentially replacing the previous ones
  6. Boot up and enjoy

In case you ever have to reinstall the game or "check integrity of game's cache", you will have to repeat this process.

I tried to make the guide as simple as possible, if something is unclear ask me via comment.

I have no idea if this will help the ppl with the bad crashes, but im running these games on a very powerful Dell Inspiron barley containing the raw power of a 5500u processor and a mighty 500 - something MB (MB ? really?) of V-RAM.

My problem stopped (apart from the delightful habit Div-X has of causing more crashes then light rain on a NASCAR track) when i disabled or lowered particles and particle thickness in game, and replaced the .reg of several very worthwhile playing mods , which are the reason i reinstalled the game in the first case.

I dont know if its related, I kind of doubt it, but i have no idea why that would help an integrated graphics system that basically only exists on paper, even with the hefty 4GB of system memory it has to draw on, but integrated graphics suck for everythign ive applied them to - except this series.

I am perplexed - but good luck.

I will try those, thank you

But those last 4 options are really grasping at straws.

Sorry guys I am not sure I can help with your crashes - I can't replicate your errors and I can't think of what you could be missing that'd result in those errors.

Really the only other stuff besides things I mentioned below that comes to mind:
1. installing other .Net packages - older/newer versions if that might not help
2. installing other DirectX versions
3. trying to use integrated GPU or looking up if it's not the GPU crashing it - Windows has its OWN settings for which GPU to use, besides the usual nvidia control panels and such. It could be that Windows is somehow crashing it this way
4. installing DivX codec - though this should be autoincluded in Win 10/11

Yeah I was confused by that. Usually you get some kind of error log or something - but nothing in the case of this game.

Funnily - it seems like the game is easiest to run on Linux these days.

I tried all of it today too, and all "Disabled fullscreen optimizations" did to me was windows defender window poping up.
I even tried Compatibility Administrator fix with core limit to 8. same

didn't expect that to work anyway. uninstalled. Went through all the compatibility modes back to xp even, redid dx installers from install folder, the profile.dll one, the cores one.

Think I'm out for realsies this time but again, ty for trying to help.

Yeah after fresh install I did above steps. I'm going to try safe mode? but yeah who tf knows.

I assume it could still be some specific versions of Windows 10/11 or some kind of 3rd party library or who the fuck knows.
I have full-screen optimisations enabled and the fix I wrote above was enough for me.
