The Buran was developed by the Soviet Union as its counterpart to the American Space Shuttle. It aimed to provide reusable access to space.

Unlike the Space Shuttle, Buran was designed for fully automated flight during its orbital missions. This autonomous capability was ahead of its time.

Buran completed only one spaceflight on November 15, 1988. It orbited the Earth and successfully landed, demonstrating its capabilities.

Technik Museum Speyer (Germany): The Technik Museum Speyer houses the Buran prototype OK-GLI, which was used for testing gliding flight and landing after reentry into the atmosphere. This impressive shuttle is 36 meters long, 16 meters high, and weighs about 80 tons. It completed 25 atmospheric flights between 1984 and 1989 and significantly contributed to the successful orbital flight of a Buran shuttle in 1988,

Other Locations: Additionally, there have been sightings of Buran mock-ups and artifacts in Moscow and at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. However, access to some of these locations may be restricted.

Due to funding constraints and political changes after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Buran program was canceled in 1993. Only one operational orbiter was built. VERY SAD :(
