Pistol / Handgun (Mk23)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The pistol is a solid all round menace that exceeds in stealthfully and accurately killing enemies with a supressor, tough it still serves as a good shootout weapon due to the ability to one shot helmetless enemies in the head and the sheer accuracy it can be fired in focus mode.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Statistics

  • Damage: 2 Low
  • Fire-rate: 3 Medium
  • Accuracy: 4 High
  • Recoil: 5 V-Low
  • Magazine capacity: 3 Medium
  • Ammo carry capacity: 4 High
  • Can be dual-wielded?: Yes 5

Final score: 26/35

Attachments / Mods:

Burst mode - Makes the weapon fire in bursts of three. Increased fire rate but harder to control best paired with the compensator and dual wielding.

Automatic mode - Makes the weapon fire at a very fast rate of fire. Extremely hard to control best paired with the compensator and dual wielding.

Supressor - Makes the weapon the weapon quieter to make stealth kills easier. Reduces accuracy and damage as a trade-off

Compensator - Reduces recoil drasticly while cripling the fire-rate in semi-auto mode.

Laser - Increases weapon accuracy. Makes the player easier to be detect by enemies in stealth

Tips/Stragegies

- The pistol is a ammo efficient weapon that is extremely hard to run out of ammo with due to the sheer amount of pistols littered all around the maps and used by most low level enemies.
- Combat effectivenes can be enhanced by dual wielding or using the burst / full auto attachment
- The pistol is weak when fired at the body, aim for the head for clean one shot kills
- Equipping the compensator attachment makes controlling recoil much easier, especialy while using either one of the fire-mode mods. Note that it drasticly reduces firerate in semi-auto!

Trivia:

- The pistol is based on the German Mk23 handgun which comes with the laser device and supressor that is equipable ingame.
- While the pistol looks similar to the one in the fear series of games it doesn't mimick the same pistol as fear. Fear uses the German HK USP which basicly is a smaller and more common mk23.

- The pistol has a unique achivement attached to it:
Efficient:
Kill 13 enemies without reloading
Revoler / Six Shootter [DLC ONLY] (Ruger GP100 + Chiappa Rhino)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The papa of all handguns. The revolver. It boasts extreme damage and manuvarability alongside dead-eye accuracy. Best used to take out single enemies with a one shot kill.
Hold the trigger down to charge a rapid burst of lead. Mcree would be proud.

+ 3 Bonus badass-points

Final score: 27/35

Attachments / Mods:

The revolver cant be modified because its perfect the way it is.

Tips/Strategies

- Its high noon! You can "fan fire" the revolver rapidly if you hold the fire button down.

Trivia:

- The revolver is likely a Ruger GP100 + Chiappa Rhino combined.

- The revolver can only be accessed by owning the DLC: Bladekisser
Smg / Submachinegun (Kriss vector)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The smg excels in causing a constant burst of damage at a fast pace. While it may not be the strongest weapon against groups, it melts single target high health enemies such as bosses and juggernauts. Dual wielding the smg's makes them twice as lethal allowing you to melt crowds and bosses alike in seconds. The high capacity means that you don't have to reload as often as its currently the weapon with the second highes magazine capacity after the minigun.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Statistics

  • Damage: 1 V-Low
  • Fire-rate: 4 Fast
  • Accuracy: 3 Medium
  • Recoil: 4 Low
  • Magazine capacity: 4 (50)
  • Reserve capacity: 4 (200)
  • Can be dual-wielded?: 5 Yes

Final score: 25/35

Attachments / Mods:

Supressor - Makes the weapon the weapon quieter to make stealth kills easier. Reduces accuracy and damage as a trade-off

Long barrel - Makes the weapon more accurate in longer bursts of fire. Increased recoil and decreased accuracy in the first shots.

Laser - Increases weapon accuracy. Makes the player easier to be detect by enemies in stealth.

Folded stock - folding the stock of the smg increases reload speed at the cost of increased recoil.

Tips/Stragegies

- The smg is one of the most common weapons used by any faction. Running out of reserve ammo is a hard challenge even when spraying and praying. Use this at your advantage
- Combat effectivenes can be enhanced by dual wielding.
- The smg is very weak when fired at the body or armor, aim for the head or other weakspots for highly increased damage output.
- Equipping the long barrel attachment makes the smg more effective when fired at long bursts thus making it more accurate in longer ranges. This comes at a cost however.

Trivia:

- The smg is based on the kriss vector submachinegun. Which uses a special recoil migitation device to make the weapon almost recoilless. This is represented in game aswell with low recoil.
- While the model uses the 30 round magazines the weapon ingame is depicted as having 50 rounds inside the magazine.
Rifle / Assault Rifle (Vhs-D2)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The rifle is strong beefy and reriable. It deals high damage at all ranges and can be equiped with loads of different attachments like the 2x scope. The rifle tough can be hard to control when fired in long bursts and especialy when dual-wielded. Focus/Slow-mo is reccomended
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Statistics

  • Damage: 3 - Medium
  • Fire-rate: 4 - Fast
  • Accuracy: 3 - Medium
  • Recoil: 2 - High
  • Magazine capacity: 3 - (30)
  • Reserve capacity: 2 - 90
  • Can be dual-wielded?: 5 - Yes

Final score 27/35

Attachments / Mods:

Supressor - Makes the weapon quieter allowing to keep a low profile and allowing easier stealth kills. Decreases accuracy and damage

2X Scope - Allows aiming with a two times magnification sight. Usefull in long range combat.
Increased accuracy and decreased spread when aiming, decreased accuracy when not.

Laser - Increases weapon accuracy. Makes the player easier to be detect by enemies in stealth.

Tips/Stragegies

- The rifle is the all round weapon of choice. It can be used in stealth, it can be used in combat, it can be used in both short and long ranges. If in doubt, pickup the rifle.
- Dual-wielding the rifles makes them unstoppable, shredding everything it comes across. This makes them really hard to control tough. Its recomended to use focus when spraying and praying.

Trivia:

- The rifle is based on the croatian VHS-D2 rifle and its variants. Even including the scope.
- The use of the croatian VHS-D2 by all of the ingame faction is strange as its rather rare outside croatian armed forces.
Machine gun / MG [DLC only] (MGX machinegun)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The midpoint between the assault rifle and the minigun. Big magazine, low recoil.
It can be equipped with an electric attachment that tazes and stuns enemies.
Usefull in crow control and for laying down longer bursts of fire.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

  • Fire-rate: 3 Medium
  • Accuracy: 4 High
  • Recoil: 4 Low
  • Magazine capacity: 4 High (50)

Laser - Increases weapon accuracy. Makes the player easier to be detect by enemies in stealth

Taser - Turn the weapon to a non lethal stun gun. Stuns enemies but doesnt kill them.

Tips/Stragegies

Work in progress

- The lmg is great when dualwielded, allowing you to spray 100 rounds before having to reload.
- If you have to choose between a rifle and the lmg you should pick the lmg since its more or the less a direct upgrade if you dont mind the lack of a 2x scope.

Trivia:

- The machine gun ls based on the MGX machine gun.
- Even tough the gun features 40 round stanag magazines on its model the weapon holds 50 rounds ingame.
Shotgun / Pump shotgun (Spas-12)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The shotgun is the only weapon youll ever need. Turning people into gorey fleshy paste to paint the town red with. alternatively you can use the dragons breath rounds to burn the town down instead. Overpowered, unmatched and godlike.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Statistics

  • Damage: 5 - V-High
  • Fire-rate: 2 - Slow
  • Accuracy: 3 - Medium
  • Recoil: 5 - V-Low (Countered by a slow fire-rate)
  • Magazine capacity: 2 - (8)
  • Reserve capacity: 3 - (24)
  • Can be dual-wielded?: 5 - Yes

+ 5 Points for cool factor (gibbing and pure brutality)

Final score: 30/35

Attachments / Mods:

Supressor - Makes the weapon quieter allowing to keep a low profile and allowing easier stealth kills. Decreases accuracy and damage

Choke - Decreases vertical spread of shells when fired, allowing more accurate fire at ranges.

Dragons breath - Changes the ammo type from buckshot to the incendiary dragons breath round. Lights enemies on fire stunning them and causing afterburn damage.

Folded stock - Faster reloading for higher recoil. Basicly free reload speed since recoil doesnt matter in a pump action shotgun.

Tips/Stragegies

- The shotgun is literaly the only weapon you will need. It can be adapted to almost any situation and just works 110% of the time. In rage-mode this is the only viable weapon.
- Dual-wielding shotguns makes them even more busted, blowing up (or melting) everyone with hard hitting power.
- The dragons breath rounds are usefull when dealing with crowds of enemies as even a single pellet can take a enemy out of the fight. Tough not effective at taking down single targets
- The dragons breath rounds help you track invisible enemies such as Subject 107
- Normal rounds are stronger against singe targets.

Trivia:

- The shotgun is based off the iconic italian shotgun. The frenchi spas 12
- While usualy depicted as being semi-automatic the spas 12 in game is in pump action mode which is accurate to real life due to the shotguns ability to change firemodes.

DMR / Designated marksman rifle (Sl-8)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The designated marksman rifle or dmr for short is the middle child between a assault rifle and a sniper rifle sharing features from both such as faster firerate and higher calibers. While the game lacks long range combat not including crashsite or site 18 it still proves to be a deadly tool in subject 106's arsenal. Tough im sure 106 could kill a whole squad with a thumb tack...
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Statistics

  • Damage: 4 - High + Armor penetration
  • Fire-rate: 3 - Medium
  • Accuracy: 5 - V-High
  • Recoil: 3 - Medium
  • Magazine capacity: 2 - (10)
  • Ammo carry capacity: 2 - (30)
  • Can be dual-wielded?: 5 - Yes

Final score: 24/35

Attachments / Mods:

Supressor - Makes the weapon the weapon quieter to make stealth kills easier. Reduces accuracy and damage as a trade-off

Compensator - Reduces recoil while decreasing fire-rate as a trade off. Helps with shooting.

Laser - Increases weapon accuracy. Makes the player easier to be detect by enemies in stealth

Scope - Allows aiming down the scope for increased range and accuracy when aiming. Decreased accuracy and increased spread when not aiming.

Ironsights - Removes the scope to allow closer range usage. Increases accuracy

Tips/Stragegies

- While you CAN dual wield dmr's you likely shouldnt aside from killing bosses fastly or Destroying the brains in the pandora HQ bossfight due to horrid accuracy.
- The dmr is a rather rare weapon to come across so take your shots carefully.
- When playing any of the more open missions like site-18 or crash site its recomended to use a scoped dmr to take out the Snipers

Trivia:

- While not to my knowledge straightly refrencing a real life weapon the dmr shares many similarities with the german Sl-8 rifle. Which is sold to the civilian population.
- Equiping the ironsights makes the rifle look more like the G36 which is the military version of the sl-8.'
- Despite being modelled with the 30-round magazine the weapon ingame only holds 10 rounds. This is likely either a balancing act or refrencing the low capacity civilian magazines
Bolt launcher / Penetrator / Railgun (B&T GL-06)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The mysterious bolt launcher at its base fires a three round burst of timed explosive rounds that are effective with taking out both groups and single targets. The bolt launcher can also equip the alternative "penetrator" mod that allows it to fire 3 different metal bolts that pin enemies to walls much like the half-life 2 rebar bow. Beware of the slow bullet travel-time
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

  • Damage: 5 - High + Splash damage
  • Fire-rate: 3 - Medium
  • Accuracy: 5 - High
  • Recoil: 5 - V-Low
  • Magazine capacity: 1 - (3)

  • Can be dual-wielded?: 0 - No

Final score: 21/35

Attachments / Mods:

Penetrator - Changes the weapon to fire 3 different metal rods that pin enemies to walls. High damage and accurate. More ammo conservative than the standard explosive shots.

Tips/Stragegies

- The bolt launcher is strong at taking both groups and single targets down.
Very strong in the pandora HQ bossfight to destroy the brain tanks
- The bolt launcher is a rather rare weapon to come across so take your shots carefully.

Trivia:

The bolt launcher is based on the B&T GL-06
- The penetrator attachment is a direct callback to the FEAR series of games as it too has a bolt launcher with same properties.
- The name "penetrator" should never ever never be taken out of context... If you know you know.

Grenade launcher / GL (VD42)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
If you tought the bolt launcher was overkill you are severly mistaken... The grenade launcher can fire 4 impact grenades in quick succession with out needing to reload. Ultimate crowd control tool. Even more lethal when dual wielded. Try to not blow yourself up with it
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Statistics

  • Damage: 5 - High + Splash damage

  • Recoil: 5 - V-Low

  • Ammo carry capacity: 2 - (12)
  • Can be dual-wielded?: 5 - Yes

Final score: 25/35

Attachments / Mods:

Homing - Removes the impact detonation property and adds a fuse to delay explosion. Shells fired at enemies will automaticaly hone in on their position even around corners....

Tips/Stragegies

- The grenade launcher is a very rare weapon to come across as there are about 3 main instances you will come across it Jorvik castle flesh monster fight, Pandora Hq Intro and Pandora Hq bossfight also can be aqquired in arena / endless mode trough the buy station.
- Be aware of the splash radious of the grenades, it can help you kill the enemies or yourself if you aren't carefull with your shots (Shooting in a small room)

Trivia:

- The grenade launcher refrences the russian VD 42? Grenade launcher... It was VD something right guys? I dont know im too fat and lazy to look it up.
Minigun / Quad Lmg (Minimi+Mk46+M249 Abomination)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Laser - Increases weapon accuracy. Makes the player easier to be detect by enemies in "stealth".

2X scope - attaches a two times magnification optic to the weapon allowing to aim down sights for increases accuracy and decreased spread Vice versa when NOT aiming down sights when equiped. Why would you equip this on a damn minigun tough is something i dont know!?

Smart gun - Bullets automaticaly hone in towards targets even around walls and other barricades. Usefull when need to camp behind a corner like a baby arrises (Not really)

Tips/Stragegies

- Absolute powerhouse, just spray and pray. Nothing else needs to be said.
- Rarely used by bosses and heavy units.

Trivia:

- The minigun is based on a mixture of the Minimi+Mk46+M249 machineguns alongside a quad rotary barrel to give it the classic minigun look.
- Mandatory pootis POW TF2 refrence

What weapons do i recomend? / "Tierlist" WIP
Note that this list is not based on the custom weapon tiering system, instead this is based on my personal opinion!

First off, the shotgun is a must have in every mission with its insane damage and possible stunning effects with the incendiary rounds it will suit every need in every map (Even in Rage Mode)

The sword is strong and lethal, infinite ammo, infinite slaughther. Especialy destructive with focus and cloaking. Who wouldnt like a giant ass sword?

While this may be a un-popular opinion, the smg is really strong and under-rated. Its shreds in akimbo and especialy focus mode. Great against single high health enemies like the juggernauts.

Other than the shotgun the pistol is also really great to have, especialy if you are planning on a stealth/min detection run. Versatile and common, its hard to run out off reserve ammo.

Sheer firepower in a rare quantity. While the minigun rarely appears in game, when it appears you likely should pick the beast up and decimate wawes and hordes alike. Points off for rarity.

The lmg is just a straight upgrade to the rifle, higher capacity, lower recoil.

The rifle is basicly the smg's big brother, higher damage and more angst. Deadly in the right hands but not mine. (skill issue) semi hard to control in a such fast paced game where you die in mere frames.

The Dmr is lack for a better term, medicore. Does high damage and really dominates in damage output but lacks in everything else. No time to AIM in a movement shooter.

The bolt gun is extremely underapreciated. While it may not be the most practical option due to sheer ammo consumption and rarity, it still remains as the most fun weapon for me with the penetrator mod.

Oh and the grenade launcher also is just there. Like the bolt gun fun but whats the point when you can just chuck grenades and blow stuff up like 20 other ways? (- for rarity)

Noted. Thanks for the corrections. Appreciate that :spiffo:
A Random Guardsman 28 Jul, 2024 @ 10:02pm
I should note that the Revolver doesn't seem to be a S&W 500 or RSH-12, but rather a Ruger GP100 with a Chiappa Rhino Cylinder and one of those blocky Taurus barrels. Likewise the Bolt Launcher is a B&T GL-06 modified into using what seems to be some sort of Metal Storm system, and the Minigun is a Minimi/Mk46/M249 fitted with a rotary barrel system. Otherwise, noice guide.

To my knowledge no. but there is a chance... Tough i wonder why would they keep balancing changes behind a DLC paywall

Were any weapon stats changed with the dlc? I feel like some things are slightly different.

I would add in the tips for the smg that giving it long barrel, folded stock and laser turns it into the perfect run and gun weapon, reload time is almost non existent

Yeah gotta agree. Rare to see a civil person in the steam forums lol so hats off to you lol

Yeah that's fair honestly. SMG has good recoil and spawns a lot in levels, so it's a great back-up workhorse weapon for me too but I almost switch out immediately if given the option since I feel like most weapons excluding the Rifle get the job done better by a little bit. So it's 3rd worst gun > SMG >>>>>>>> Rifle
Really the Rifle would be way more viable if the devs just fixed the atrocious recoil on it.
It's funny that in most FPS the assault rifle is usually the all-rounder and easy-to-use weapon, but in Trepang2 it's the most unwieldy and ineffective weapon there is.

But it's your guide so whatevs. Just giving my two cents. :)

Btw you could use IMFDB for the real life equivalents of the weapons. https://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Trepang2
