This works, but it's not the most elegant way. For example, for 2986 it gives
2986 = (((13 * 11) * (7 * 3)) - 17)

Whereas my solution (probably not the best) was 14^3+2(11^2).

I'll use it when I get lazy and don't want to factor numbers, hah

Sharkwaffle, whenever the caret, the ^, that's code for an exponential power. If you haven't unlocked that operation, then you simplify because 2^7 is the same as 2^4 * 2^3, and 2^4 is 2^2 * 2^2. In that instance you should have 4 unlocked and hopefully 8 as well. If no 8 unlocked, just use another multiplier. So you'd have 4*4*8 or 4*4*4*2 to get you 2^7, which you then can hopefully finish from there.
