The RS-680 Echila Quadruple Tachyon Positron Cannon was specifically developed for Yagata-class Cruisers by the Echila Corporation nearly 300 years ago. Originally classified as a battleship turret, the RS-680 was eventually downgraded to a cruiser sized gun less than 20 years ago. It serves as a powerful secondary gun for battleships and is the primary weapon of the Yagata and it's derivatives. It features numerous onboard tracking systems with a large capacitor bank allowing it to force-inject antielectrons into the firing chamber at a high rate.

The traverse speed of the cannon has lead it to be able to easily intercept most fast-flying ships such as skirmish destroyers and frigates and can even participate in anti-fighter combat in a limited capacity. It's popularity as a gun for the iconic Yagata-class Cruisers have led other empires such as the Alpherion Federation to use these guns on some of their own ships.
