RN Aquila

Here is the cancelled aircraft carrier Aquila of the Regia Marina (Italian Navy).

Aquila started life as the ocean liner SS Roma. When WW2 broke out, the ship was taken over by the Italian Navy to be converted into an aircraft carrier in response to the raid on Taranto by British carriers. Conversion work started in 1941 and continued until 1943 when Italy signed an armistice with the allies, bringing Italy out of WW2. In response to the Italian surrender, the Germans seized the ship, but she would later be sunk by Italian commandos in 1945. After the war, Italy considered completing the ship as she was nearly finished, or converting her into some other use. None of these plans came to be due to the current state of Italy after the war, and so Aquila's remains were scrapped in 1952.


The model was a lot more higher poly than I originally thought, so the hull and guns are separate models until I can figure out a way to merge them together. Use the Bone Merge Tool to put them together.

-Download Buoyancy Tool, and set the value to what ever you want.

The models are realistically scaled, so use Collision Resizer if you want to make them smaller.
