LORE: Historically, it wasn't common for a regular Metalburguese citizen to have any passion for any sport that wasn't segway-related. That included car racing, and, for that reason, The Metalburg Bureau never really bothered to build race cars, and most of that sport was done by a few indie racing clubs spread across the island. Few things could break the Bureau's paradigm, but one of them, as petty as it was, was corporate rivalry. The Duke, as well as the Bureau's directors, noticed the great profit HELIOS had recently achieved in the sports car market, and wished to have a slice of that success for themselves. And, since the Duchy had recently entered an era of economic decline, they found a good justification to pander to their own envy and hired many indie mechanics to build something that could topple HELIOS's racing supremacy. The fruit of that petty pursuit was the Shotgun, a vintage-looking, easy-to-drive racer equipped with two jet engines that made its rear look like a twin-barrel rifle. It achieved respectable success... However, Duke craved more power.
