Greeting Fellow Helldivers, Or Ex-Helldivers as the case may be.
I made this guide for one reason. I want to help minimize those who are getting screwed over by Sony's business decisions. I plan on putting the important bits first and some personal thoughts at the end, no need to read past the final picture unless you want to though biased as I may be I'd recommend it.
Vote with your wallet.
If your old enough to pay your own bills I know you've heard the saying before. Vote With Your Wallet. At the end of the day big corporations don;t care about words they care about money. That being said, you can help ensure Snoy (or any other objectively scum company) feels that Vote.

Step 1:

Start by going to the Helldivers 2 Store page.

Step 2

On the right hand side right above game tags you should a Developer (In this case Arrowhead) and a Publisher (in this case Snoy) click on the link for Snoy.

It should take you to the page for the Developer.

Step 3

On the right hand side should be a settings Cog Icon. Click it and you'll see the option to "Ignore This Creator". If you click this option it should show this following:

With that done no Snoy published games should appear on your Discovery Ques etc... if you want to undo this just follow the same steps again. This should greatly lessen the risk of ever buying a game requiring a PSN account again.

This is that personal thoughts bit I mentioned and if your reading, thanks!

I know this whole fiasco with PSN and Helldivers 2 has been a pain for most of us, that being said Id like to share some information as well as some of my reasoning regarding the situation.

I want to make it clear I want Snoy to walk back their decision and not require a PSN account. Its scummy regardless of your stance of it be "It only takes 2 mins and its free" or "Its a huge security risk and some people can't even make PSN accounts". Either way its a blatantly unnecessary bait and switch. "Oh but what if they need it to enforce bans!?" Its a PvE game firstly, and secondly simply make it so you had to have a PSN account to do cross play then everyone could be happy or at least play the game.

Now that being said, I did some research of my own. I will admit I am obviously not Steam nor Snoy, so take what I have to say with that in mind. From everything I've discovered it appears as if any Third Party account that links to your steam account only gets your Steam ID. Which can be looked up via your user name so its not exactly private info regardless. What it does (From my understanding) is allow said third party to give you a permanent name in their system. This is needed because as Im sure you know it is possible to change our basic Steam User Name as much as we want. Which is all Snoy is getting at the moment. Snoy wants to be able to control us in Helldivers 2 which is bad enough as it is. However the will not gain access to our steam accounts themselves nor our payment info etc... think about it even from a purely logical point why would steam allow ANYONE that kind of info it would lead to SO many lawsuits. I Dislike Snoy, in case that wasn't obvious, but you know what I dislike more? Snoy getting to Cut server space and save money because all the true Democracy loving Helldivers can't play anymore.

Make a throwaway email, you can even use it to throw shade a Snoy. Put in a fake DoB, the only thing else they ask for is a Zipcode so not to bad there and you can fake that to if you want.

Don't let Snoy take a single thing away from you, and never give them a single penny for another product again. *Assuming they don't change ofc.

Just my thoughts, love you all, For Super Earth.

the problem is that there’s always people with more votes than you

unless there’s massive collective action (like with this situation) there’s nothing that can be done

Sony just released their corporate message, you can look it up, but here is a gamer translation:

"Helldivers fans - Steam issued refunds and the EU contacted us about fraud charges. You won this round, for now.
We're still learning how to rip you off legally, and we're not quite where we want to be."

Oh 100% agree whoever I would argue losing Helldivers a game we already paid for is a lose to us much more than Sony. They already got most of our money regarding the game. You wanna punch them where it hurts? Don't buy another game backed by them until you see some real substantial changes. I can't tell you what to do, I can only let you know what Im doing and my reasoning for it.

I see where you're coming from but..
There will be cases where they try doing stuff and succeed.
Then there's gonna be cases where they try doing stuff, fail, and backpedal back to normal status.

The end result is that either they win or nothing bad happens to them.
This incentives them to keep doing things like this.
Burned projects have to stay burned to teach them a lesson.
They need an actual loss because then the risk becomes too high.

I've changed my review. There has to be some reward for doing what the consumer wants. If they betray us again I can switch it agian. That being said you all do what you feel is best for you in mind. Im still ignoring Sony LLC, wont be buying any more SC or Sony backed games. They burnt the goodwill they had. Wont risk being burned worse later. But for now this is a victory everyone lets make hay while the sun shines as they say.

People who changed their reviews back to positive took the bait. It does nothing but tell greedy corpos they can backpedal and things are gonna be back to normal in no time.

Even though I have a PS4 and therefore a PSN account, I will not be linking it. My kids (3 of them) play on the PS4, they do not have their own PSN accounts, but they do have their own Stream accounts. Two of them are playing Helldivers 2 on their laptops. I guess once the game stops being playable we will request refunds.

I already cancelled my PlayStation Plus account. Rarely used it anyway so it will save me some money and deny it to Sony. I was going to buy a PS5 in June, but I decided I won't now. I will also be wary and not buy any future games linked to Sony for any of our PCs. When they drop support for the PS4 or it dies then I will be done with Sony.
