Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat (Destructable Panels)

Description
The Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat was widely regarded as one of the best naval aircraft in WW2. It made its combat debut in 1943, showing its true power and potential in the Pacific Theater against the agile and feared A6M Zero. The F6F was the direct replacement for the aging and outdated F4F Wildcat. The new Hellcat proved more than a match for the Japanese Zero, ending up with an impressive 19:1 kill ratio, as well as earning its staple in not only naval, but world history.

This particular F6F sports the infamous “banned” nose art of the VF-27 squadron aboard the USS Princeton (CVL-23) light carrier. At this time, most personal art was banned from US Navy aircraft, making this a very risky move. Fortunately, nobody aboard the Princeton seemed to care about this unique art. Unfortunately during the battle of Leyte Gulf, the Princeton was sunk, forcing the remaining aircraft to land on other US carriers. The commands of these carriers had the non-regulation nose art quickly painted over and covered up. Despite this, the Cats Mouth nose art is still one of the most famous images of WW2 US naval history.

My F6F is completely 1:1 scale, boasting high detail in functionality, mechanisms, exterior, and parts that break off when damaged. Its speed and ease of handling makes it ideal for any WW2 multiplayer fighting and fun. This aircraft also includes an RPS based sound system to try and mimic the noise of the actual aircraft!

Getting Started:
-There are two ways of starting the F6F. If you prefer hopping in and going, simply flip the starting magneto located in the left of the cockpit. The aircraft will start after self priming in 10-15 seconds. However, if you have a crew, or would like an instant start, prime the engine by cranking the prop from right under the nose of the aircraft. This will allow you to flip the magneto and allow the aircraft to start instantly!

Taking Off:
-Taking off is simple, once the engine is started, throw it to maximum pitch and throttle after taxiing using the pitch to control your speed while grounded. Once the tail begins to lift, pull up and get off the ground. Next, be sure to raise your gear located as the first switch on the middle most panel.

!NOTE! Remember to disengage the brake when taxiing. The landing gear will sometimes give way, when this happens they will typically spring back into position, but in the event of a full gear failure, the aircraft will need to be respawned.

In Flight:
-Once in flight, you may need to trim the aircraft as it tends to pitch forward with no trim. This can be done by using CTRL+ whatever button surface needs trimming. You may also use the Autopilot feature located near the gear switch for long duration flying. Remember to manage your throttle in order to avoid overheating of the engine. To achieve your maximum overclock speed, pull the pitch back to .75 with the throttle at full. Your main guns can be shot using SPACE, and your wing ordinance uses 2,3.

Landing:
-To land, it is best to use autopilot for stability, simply get the aircraft low and drop the throttle, too hard of a landing may cause a gear collapse. If needed, the flaps may be used to further assist your low speed flying. Once you touch down, be sure your brakes are on and you pull both your pitch and throttle all the way down.

!NOTE! Depending on your flight style, you may use either the landing gear switch, or the seat button, however you must commit to one or the other, as attempting to use both will result in non functioning gear!

The only thing missing from this aircraft is the Grumman style wing folding unfortunately. The physics of the game would not allow it to be done while sitting at the angle necessary to best replicate the curvature of the aircraft's wings.

can you make a B-17G heavy bomber with a realistic engine noise (btw b17g is the one with the top waist gun thingy at the radio area and cheek guns)

haha your good! Most of the time planes IRL use the same thing but honesty it depends. and thanks! I put a good bit of work into the panels and such, its a neat lil thing I decided to add since its fun in dogfights

Yeah dude its user error. The engine is supposed to sputter before it starts, its in the description, it takes a few seconds unless you prime it.
