Intro
Have you been experiencing what many might call "Jello" water? This problem occurs when camera speed increases. Although some may not have this issue regardless of installation, I have. After screwing with all of the settings, I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION. This may be posted on the niche subsim forums, but it may prove hard to find. Provided is just a quick, extremely easy guide and uneducated explanation on how it happens, and how to fix it.

Some have gaslit others, saying its the monitor (which it is), or if it's something to do with closing out to another program (it is not). But it is not the monitor exactly, for some reason the 1.5 update w/ the Uboat missions ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the vanilla game, and modern hardware ♥♥♥♥♥ with how the light reflects off the ocean. I am not a programmer, developer, or anything - so these explanations may be slightly inaccurate, but the gist is basically the same for the layman

Basically, it is the Uboat mission expansion. I never owned it until recently, and it's pretty mid. I've had this game since 2009. Vanilla is fine, you're not missing anything (unless you want to mod the game, which I suggest using caution doing).

Therefore, do this:
1. backup any saves you have, if they aren't synced. It will be in your documents folder
2. Delete the cfg file (NOT the SH4 file) in your documents folder.
3. Uninstall Uboat expansion
4. Uninstall SH4
5. Reinstall SH4 ONLY
6. Enjoy your bug free jello water free game
You still may see it slightly, especially on higher resolutions (the game was built for a 1024x768 CRT monitor), but it will drastically improve.
As windows and hardware continue to advance, the compatibility of this game will decrease, unfortunately.

If this does not work, it may be other compatibility issues arising from Windows 11, I have heard Windows 11 turns any SH game unplayable for many users. At that point, consult the wizards at Subsim, they have a lot of solutions to the buggy messes in this game.

Can confirm doing this reduced the Jelly ..still exists but no where near as bad

SH 3 got Working no issues aside from allowing it to use more ram solved the crashing issues change the file header on the Exe to allow use of more than 2bg ram ..boom stable on Win 11 ..same can be used for 4 on that front ..I was about to throw in the towel with the distracting Jelly water... when i see this post :) ..its a work around if you don't want to Mod
