Introduction
Welcome to my guide! I have created this to help you understand the 1.6 update a little better. Anyways, lets get to the guide.
New Festivals
In the 1.6 update in Stardew Valley, there are 3 new festivals in the game, 1 major festival, and 2 mini-festivals. The major festival takes place in the desert and can only be available if you have completed the vault in the community center or donated money to Joja. In this festival, you can bet on races, participate in challenges inside the skull caverns, and buy things from villagers that would otherwise be unavailable, like the marriage candidate weapons or decor found in Penny's 14-heart scene. The 2 other mini-festivals are fishing festivals where you can fish and win prizes. That's all the festivals.
Pets!
In the 1.6 update, there is one change in the game that many people are very happy about. You can now have unlimited pets, and there are new options for pets! There is a black and white cat now available and 2 other dog options. Although a turtle isn't a pregame option, you can buy it later in the game at Marnie's ranch once you've reached full hearts with your starter pet. You can also get multiple pet bowls, dog houses, and cat towers too!
Trinkets
I don't know much about trinkets because I haven't come across them in Stardew Valley yet, but I heard some things about it (from youtube). Trinkets are little things that you can use in the skull caverns, or the mines to benefit you based on different things. There are different powers each trinket possesses, including healing, freezing monsters, eating monsters whole, and much more.
New Farm Type!
There is a completely new farm type available in the game! This farm is called the Meadowlands Farm and completely revolves around raising animals. For example, when you start the game, you start with 2 chickens and 15 pieces of hay instead of 15 parsnips. This makes it easier to profit from animals earlier in the game.
Bookseller
There is now a bookseller that will appear twice every month on 2 random dates and will sell a random selection of books. These books will either make things easier in game, or give you experience points, or other really random things. You can see the bookseller days marked on the calendar by a hot-air-balloon. It will also notify you when he is in town.
Green Rain
During a random day in summer, pelican town will descend into a mysterious green mist causing moss and wild trees to grow everywhere. All devices will be shut off so there is no connection to the outside world. During the first year, everyone will hide in the saloon for shelter and panic and worry about the end of the world or whatever. You can harvest the moss using a scythe and cut down the wild trees using a normal axe. After the rain, some trees will still be covered by moss until you chop them down or hit with a scythe. This is a really cool event and contains some very unique dialogue during the event.
Much Much More!
There is so much that was added into the game that it is impossible to list it all in one tiny guide! If I did list everything then this guide would be almost 350 sections long. For more information, I suggest consulting the official Stardew Valley Wiki, but if you enjoyed reading this guide, maybe you can subscribe to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@onion-gamergurl2013/videos . I try to post about Stardew Valley, but sometimes I post funny shorts and stuff. I hope you have a fabulous day!
