Collectibles Locations Explained
By MiniAR
This is going to be an in-depth guide, with pictures to help, instead of simple text, also some other guides have inaccurate or vague information, so I felt the need to make my own instead.

Intro
(This is my FIRST Guide, so please be nice)
This guide has been updated for the most recent item update, the bird seed update.
Need those pesky items for the Great Bulwark and Solemn Tempest? Well... they are almost impossible to do first try, so having these items are a huge help!
I have reclimbed (almost) every peak and reclaimed every item to make sure this information is up-to-date and correct.
Click on any screenshot if you can't see it properly, they will be big helps.
I WILL be actively updating this unless stated otherwise, including any DLC's that come out.
If I miss ANYTHING, including items or wrong areas/spots, please notify me in the comments, this will (hopefully) be a long guide.
Also, I will be covering ALL items I can, including ones gained by NPC's or upon completing a peak.
Items that I find really easy to get/not confusing or hidden will not have photo's, trust me, you will be able to see these ones if there is no photo.
Well, lets get started then!
Starting The Great Gales (Peaks 1-6)
When you first start the peakbaggin' of the Great Gales, you will start with 2 mountains without any items, these serve as primarily tutorial peaks, Greenhorn's top being practicing with swinging and Paltry Peak serving as a tester for basic lifting yourself and jumping without crampons.

When you complete Paltry's Peak, you will get a Gramophone, this serves just as some nice older tunes to listen to while in the cabin.

Old Mill
The Old Mill is the first peak where we are introduced with an singular item, the hat. The game is very obvious with this, with Walter telling you at the start. It is directly above slightly to the left of Walter, it is stuck in an tree branch.
To get the hat, you must climb on to the top or hang from the bottom of one of the rotors/wings of the Ol' Mill, from there, you can grab the hat and later climb to the top.

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2504637799942832416/F946409C3E9FC3AC77468907B870A3FBEDECB96D/?imw=256&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false
(Picture of the dirty hat, next to a rotor of the mill, showcasing how to reach it)
After completing this peak, you will get your anchoring rope and a safety harness (that using will restrict certain achievements, but are extremely helpful)

Gray Gully
The Gray Gully introduces only one more item for you to grab,a piece of a ripped picture, you will collect other pieces later on. The ripped photo piece can be found by climbing to the seperate path to the left, instead of the right, which is the natural path upwards.
(The path that the Coffee brothers are near)

The Lighthouse
The Lighthouse has no items. Nor anything you get upon completion.

Old Man of Sjor
The Old Man of Sjor has a total of 2 items you can take.
First, Porter will throw down a free piece of rope on the rock to the left of you, simply pick it up. This will give you an additional 2 rope to use.
The second item, a boot, is much more tricky to get, I would highly recommend jumping around or over the seagulls, as they make this level much more harder to complete. It will be along the left, more longer and harder path, continue upwards and go left at every chance you get.

(a picture of the dirty boot, guarded by a seagull, on the left of the picture)
After completing this peak you will get the Great Gales Map which will show which peaks you don't have items on, and more notably, the Barometer, which is extremely useful.
Further into the Great Gales (6-12)
Now we are getting into the more... harsh part of the Great Gales, the challenges and ways of getting items will be just a tad bit more harder to do.

Giant's Shelf
Giant's Shelf has another (singular) item for you to grab on your way to the more difficult peaks, by far being the easiest item to grab, simply turn around behind the rock with your bag resting on it, and follow forwards, you will see a separate path with the sleeping bag on it.
(The blue, rolled up sleeping bag at the top of the screen, overviewing Porter and the start of the peak)

Evergreen's End
Evergreen's End has some more items for you to grab, +2 rope. The rope will be located at the top of the left side of the peak, the normal way to ascent will follow both objects up the mountain, you will see the rope hanging from the edge of a rock that you can grab, it is clearly visible from the bottom of the peak. The second item will be a fishers cap, one that looks similar to Porter's, it is very close to the rope, just being a little to the right, it will be before a big leap, on top of a rock with 2 branches to both sides of it.

(The dirty hat on top of a rock, in the area I previously described)

The Twins
The Twins only has one item, which is Coffee, an extremely vital part of your future climbing. There are no items on the peak, however. Simply speak to the two brothers and they will hand you the coffee.

Old Grove's Skelf
There is one item in Old Grove's Skelf, a sort of safety helmet, it will be on the second half of the peak, when you go over the first half by climbing an overhead, you will be able to climb a little futher and easily see it.

(Just right after the overhead, you can see a path of crimp rocks following to the helmet.)

After you complete this peak you will get the most useful item in the game, (before the upgraded version) the 6 point crampons.

Hangmans Leap
There is another item on Hangmans Leap, some more ropes.
The ropes are after a big jump, you should see around 3 nails and a giant drop off, if you position yourself, you should be able to see the ledge with a piece of rope on it, that is where you need to grab.

(The rope BEFORE you make the leap)
After you make the leap, you should see Ms. Walker and the rope on the bottom of the ledge.

Lands End
There are 2 more items on Lands End, some more rope and another piece of the photo
To get to the rope and photo, continue along the normal path, either going as far up or down as you possibly can, I would recommend upwards. Continue along the path, until you find a section where some seagulls along with a decently sized rock in the river are, aswell as a rock following where you need to go are pointing upwards, find the rope at the top, and look down/other way around, and you should see the other item. This is directly before the crux "The Temperous Pass".

(You can clearly see the pointy rock in the background, just to make it less confusing.)
Pushing into the Harder Parts of the Great Gales (12-18)
This is when the Fundamentals can actually be described as "challenging" in my opinion, atleast to a newer player. The items here will be much more difficult to climb and might take a bit of retries.
Good Luck!

Old Langr
There is another item for you to find on the Old Langr, a box of coffee.
To find the box of coffee is relatively easy, simply look above the coffee bros and to the right of them, you should see the box pretty open, simply climb up and get it.

Aldr Grotto
There is one fully collectible item in the Aldr Grotto, a traveling backpack.
To find the backpack, follow the normal path until it strays to the right early on, if bats fly at your face attempting to jump scare you then you went past the path or are very close to it, look to the left
.
(Photo showing the bag with a glimpse of the path to the right side of the photo.)

Three Brothers
There are 2 items on this peak, the shovel, and some bird seeds
To get the shovel, follow the right side of the first pillar of the three, the one that goes most to the top of the pillar. From there follow the top to the overhead and just before it, you should see the shovel.
To get the bird seeds, simple follow the bottom path and turn right to the second pillar when possible. Keep following the path down to the right and you should eventually see it.
When you get to the top of the third pillar,(the summit) Porter will be waiting for you, if you speak to him, he will give you the useful tool the Monocular.
You should also unlock the Intermediate/Bouldering category from here if you did all previous summits.

(Screenshot showing the seeds and starting area)

Walter's Craig
There are three items on Walter's Craig, being some rope, and a trophy, you can clearly see it by looking a little up and to the right when you load into the peak. Get up to the point using the left, normal path.
To get the second item, when you are directly above the rope, follow the crimp path upwards, you will see the golden trophy upwards when you follow the path, grab it.
After you follow the normal path, jump back down and find Walter, climb with him and get to the summit, he will give you some rope.

(Trophy to the left, path to the right)

The Great Crevice
There are two items in the Great Crevice, another photo piece, and some rope.
To get to the items, continue along the normal path until you reach a narrow section, it should open up to clearly reveal the rope and the photo piece, continue along the path, jump to the left side then follow the crimp path to easily get the rope, follow it back and upwards to the left, to then get the photo piece. This is all BEFORE the crux "Side to Side".

(You can clearly see both the items here, and the crimp jump to the left in-which you need to follow to get both items)

Old Hagger
There is one item in the Old Hagger, being some ropes, you can clearly see them when you spawn in if you look up. Simply follow the normal path, you should be able to either jump up their with crampons following the crimp path upwards, or go the normal path to the left and rope down to grab the ropes, which I do not recommend, as it is VERY tricky.
You should also get chalk after completing this peak.
Finishing up the Fundamentals. (18-21)
This will be the last part for the Fundamentals

Ugesome Storr
Ugesome Storr has another one item, more rope.
You can find this rope by following the main path by quite a bit, once you pass Ms. Walker, keep going and eventually you should reach the crux "Deathly Pass" follow the bottom of the crux until you find a small rock that goes down, follow it and you should be able to grab the rope, it is near the start-middle part of the crux.

(You can see what im talking about in this screenshot.)

Wuthering Crest
For Wuthering Crest there are two items coffee and rope.
If you look up at the start, you should clearly be able to see the coffee with your monocular, climb up the normal path until you get to a spot where there's a wall grab to your left, jump on that then follow the path left, up and then right to the crux "The Trapise" then make your way to the box of coffee and grab it. Follow that path or the normal path the normal way up the chimney-like rock formation and you should be able to see the rope to your right, simply climb to it and grab it.

(Screenshot shows the path to the left, the box upper-right and the normal path to the right)

After completing all Fundamentals, you will get the "Fundamental Completionist" Medal and some more ropes, chalk and coffee.
Bouldering/Intermediate Category
This will be a very short section since there aren't many items to claim here.
Leaning Spire
There are only five items obtainable from the Intermediate category, first, is the intermediate trophy, found on the Leaning Spire, to get it you must follow the path normally, but go UNDER the spire when near the end instead of go up and over.
Second is the Advanced category(The Great Tines) you get it by completing any one intermediate peak after completing all fundamental peaks.
Third, is the time records and the stopwatch. You get these by completing 2 intermediate category peaks, you then get challenged by Porter to beat all of his records for an item.
Fourth, is the smoking pipe, you get this by beating all TIME records in the intermediate category.
Fifth is on Old Skerry, some bird seeds. You can find these by going up the normal path and making a leap to the right to grab the seeds.
The Great Tines
This is the guide for all items in the Advanced category, also known as "The Great Tines".

Walker's Pillar
There is one item to collect on Walker's Pillar, which is chalk. Simply follow the normal path (with or without Ms. Walker) until you reach the first crux, there should be 2 branches, swing from the first to the second and once your on the second, look down. The chalk will be right there next to a rock you can grab onto. I would highly recommend roping down as it is difficult to get out of that area without one due to the upwards slope.
If you climb with Ms. Walker, she gives you one rope at the end of the summit, I would recommend doing this.

(Photo of the chalk and the second branch you need to grab onto)

Great Gaol
There are 3 items on the Great Gaol, being the photo frame, some more rope and bird seeds. To get the photo frame, directly after the first crux 'Inevitable Soak", there will be 2 different path, take the path to the right and follow it until you see the item, use a rope to grab it or you will most likely fall.
To get the rope, simply follow the path as normal until you take the giant jump to the second pillar, jump and catch one of the branches, go to the lowest branch on the right side and take the rope hanging from some rock.
To get the seeds, continue through the normal peak until after the first jump, then continue a little more until you get to the place that goes upwards and the down towards the little slippery rocks, then look right facing the inwards of the slippery rock from climbing it, you will see the bird seeds.

(Picture of all the items and their respective locations).

Eldenhorn
Eldenhorn has 3 items you can collect, it has chalk, some more rope, and some bird seeds. To get all of these items, you need to go along the main path, you should see the chalk right before you get to an area where you have to drop down a bunch, keep following that until you see Walter sitting down, go just a bit further and if you look down you should be able to see the chalk, follow the path down and grab it.
To get the bird seeds, follow a path all the way towards the end, then just before you get to the top, look left and maybe a little up/down, they should be there.

(Picture of the part before the drop-off, item visible, and picture of the seeds directly near the top)

Next is the rope, to get the rope, keep following the main path until you react the crux "The Passage of Furled Fingers" after you enter it, you should see the ropes directly to the right, a little bit to the left of it, there will be a passage where can drop down, the rock blends in a little so keep a keen eye for it. I heavily recommend using ropes for this area as it is hard to get back up once down in that area, especially when you get to the rock after the large rock blocking your path, I think it is impossible to get back up without a rope to latch back onto, so be careful.

St.Halega
There is only 1 item in St.Halega, being the final photo piece.
You can find the final photo piece, by following the main basic path all the way to the crux "The Nose", after you finish this crux, take a detour to the left side where theres a faraway rock, scaling the top of the overhead you just got finished with. You should see the photo piece very close, simply grab it when you get close enough. You can also find it by finding the crux "Crumbling Pass" and following through that, but I'm not sure where that starts.

(Take a left HERE when getting done with "The Nose")
After finding all photo pieces, you will send it to the Walker family, unlocking a new space for another item, and it will give you a HUGE boost of 2x the length ropes and 2 more ropes to use.

Ymir's Shadow
There are three more items on Ymir's Shadow, being more ropes, a advanced category golden statue, and more bird seeds
To get the statue, make it past the first crux "The Chimney" afterwards, take a hidden right almost directly afterwards, then rope down and grab the item, the item is around 150 meters on Barometer since you have to drop down a bit, the part when you take a drop-down-right is at 161 or so meters.

(View of the item from above, must use rope to grab.)

The rope is MUCH farther up. I would very highly recommend getting this one first playthrough of Ymir's Shadow.
To get the rope, get all the way past the second crux, "Chalk Road" into the third crux, "Rising Pass", when you get to this crux, it will be on your natural path to the summit hanging on a rock's ledge, you will see it.
To get the bird seeds, go all the way past the crux "Rising Pass" and a little bit before the part before the crux "The Final Stretch". You should see it tucked in-between some rocks before some leaps.

(You can see it tucked directly before the leaping part)

After finding all items in the Great Gales, you should be awarded with infinite chalk and coffee. Also completing 3 advanced peaks, will reward you with the 10 point crampons.

That's it for the Great Tines!
The Great Northern Range
Did you know there actually is one item in the Great Northern Range?

The Great Bulwark
There is one item in the Great Bulwark, it's the Advanced Mountain Golden Trophy it is around 850 meters on your Barometer, you will be along a giant ice sheet, there will be some small ice rocks to the right of the ice sheet, follow it upwards and you will find the trophy.

The Solemn Tempest
There are around 3 I'm joking, that would be actually brain numbingly hard if there was, but there are currently 0 items on the Solemn Tempest as of writing this, it will be updated if there are any future items on the Solemn Tempest.
You will, however become President of the Ascension Society if you beat the Solemn Tempest, giving you a picture of yourself (as president) with other NPC's around you.
Golden Items
So far I know there are Golden Items, this would be
- Golden Suit (Complete ALL peaks in YFYD mode)
- Golden Smoking Pipe (Obtainable by beating ALL time records in the base game, not including peaks with no time records to beat, obviously.)
- Golden Wings(Bird mode + Free Solo)
- Golden Bird Trophy's(each done by Wally mode/Avian Chaos)
- Golden Ice Picks(Complete all peaks in free solo)
Outro (Base Game)
Now that all items are hopefully collected, I ask for you to give a thumbs up, favorite and rate this post so more people can see it, thanks.
Special Thanks to @Karma Rain for helping me find many items and getting a few photo's for me.

Anyways, this is what your current cabin should look like if you've collected all but 1 and some of the golden items. (Just the basic items as I suck at this game)

Please comment below if you have any questions or problems/requests. I'll try to answer them if I have the time to my best ability.
The Great Alps Intro (Expansion)
The Great Alps is an DLC for Peaks of Yore that is currently released! I am currently updating this guide, or have already done so!
The Great Alps is an paid for DLC so if you only own the base game there is no need to look here for now.
The Great Alps - Essentials
The Essentials are the beginning Peaks for the Great Alps Expansion to Peaks of Yore.

Tutor's Tower
There is unfortunately no item for Tutor's Tower, for the Peak itself, nor completion of the peak.
I'm not gonna lie, I struggled with this peak at first, mainly to the cracks, however.

Stougr Boulder
There is no item for this Peak either.

Mara's Arch
This Peak also has no item.

Grainne Spire
This peak has 1 item that can be found when climbing it. This would be an Idol of Crimps piece.
This can be found when going up the normal path upwards, right before a jump near an crack. There will be a seperate small path that goes to the right of the crack of crimps that you can follow, as an overhead. After you get done with the overhead you make a jump upwards to get the item near a rock.

(On the left is the start of the seperate path, the small crimp rock on the right being the path you follow. The screenshot to the right shows the jump-up to the item.)

Great Bok Tree
There is 1 item on this peak. Which is a piece to the Idol of Crimps. This will give you the final piece and allow you to make your game harder if you choose to activate it by making all normal holds turn into crimp holds.
This piece is gained by following the normal path, you should get to a point of 2 vines going upwards, look past the vines to see the item sitting inbetween some brances of a seperate tree, swing and grab it then continue climbing upwards to the second vine. Most of this peak will be figuring out where to go so look around alot.

(Screenshot of the Barometer, I am hanging off of the lower vine and you can see the item to the top-left of the Barometer.)

Treppenwald
There is 1 item on this peak, being a piece of another idol.
You can find this on the fourth hill. On the left there will be a seperate path where you can grab the item, I reccomend using chalk to grab this item.
(Showing the seperated path leading to the item. You can probably just complete the peak and jump back down and grab it from the top if you jump off but I didn't test.)

Castle of the Swan King
There are 3 items for this peak 3 seperate pieces of different idols.
The first idol piece is found by following the normal path at the start, however, continue going fully to the right from the start as much as you possibly can, making sure not to go fully up at the start, until you get to a tunnel with vines, follow through, and look towards the tunnel that you just came through, and keep going right no matter what based on that direction, you should see a seperate tree branch path you can follow, follow this path until you get to the first big tower, not the small 3 wooden lamp-post jumps earlier. Follow this upwards until you get on an tower, go to the other side and continue following the crimps jumps, a pigeon will harass you whilst you do this, you will find the item on the top of the railing, simply grab it.

The next item is a bit ahead, just keep following the path,I couldn't find an item in the tower directly after, but the tower after the one with no item (third) had an item at the top, just get to the top of it and grab the item.

The third item is very tricky. There is definitely an easier way to get to it, but I couldn't find the start to its path. What I did was follow the path completely upwards at the start, going across the roof, then keep following it left and downwards, assuming your looking towards where your grabbing, until it went back up, then at the part where you jumped from a tower to a vine, swing to the vine to the left, and then continue downwards left again, jump down to a lamp-post and you should see some rocks next to the porch sticking on the outside, grab onto them and climb in, your item will be on the railing.

(Left screenshot shows the first item on top of the railing, second shows the second items location.)

(The location of the third item.)

Seaside Tribune
There is 1 item on this peak, being a piece of another idol.
The way I found the item was to just continue the normal path, you should get to an area where there's a pad on the top you can't really reach, I found that roping and grabbing the crimps/pinches and then snagging the item and dropping with your rope back down or jumping off to the next area is the best way to get to it.

(A screenshot of the item)

Ivory Granites
There are 2 items on this peak, being a heartless idol piece, and a flower .
For the first item, follow the natural path to the crux "A Careful Descent", from there continue until you get to a point where you jump up to a crack, you should then see another crack on your right and a crimp rock to the left. Here is an image below.

(A screenshot of the beginning of the path to the item)

From there, you will have to jump to another crimp rock from the one you were on, do so, and then look to your right, there will be another crimp you can jump to, here is an image.

From there, jump to it and you will see the item.
(A screenshot of the item)

The second item, being the flower, should be very easily visible, go onto the crimp rock where you would have to turn right and instead look up and back to the path you came from, you should see the white flower on the top, from that specific rock, (use chalk and gain momentum) and do a giant swing, preferably with coffee, and constantly spam both of your hands out and snatch the flower. You cannot swing to the flower (I tried) and there is no other path to it.

Bok tree map has 2 collectibles, one being an idol that's on a branch on the main path up accessible by a vine in between two others, the screenshot in guide is decent in helping locate it, the other one is the white flower that sits on a tree opposite of the one where you summit, higher up, don't know how to get to it yet

i cant seem to find the one on the great bok tree

Mara's Arch does have an item. It's a blue flower that's located on the far side of the arch near the water.

That is troubling to hear, I read through some reviews on it, the negative ones, and a few said the same thing, that DLC is made by some other team, this is often the way with the paid for content that comes well after the original games release, It's sad that the owners of the games property rights are not into games themselves, and don't seem to know the difference between a good game and a bad one.
MiniAR  [author] 3 Jun @ 2:12pm
I kinda gave up at the guide after my schooling started back up, I might look back into the peaks ive missed now that its over again, the dlc is decent but I hate how annoying the new rocks are, the part I loved about this game is how it was challenging by being actually hard, and not just annoying, which the dlc did not demonstrate IMO.
_Junkie_ 3 Jun @ 1:33pm
good guide dude thanks for it, I'll look for that golden statue I missed.
_Junkie_ 3 Jun @ 1:32pm
I haven't played the DLC I heard it was painfully hard like the DEVS that made it were not the same guys and stuffed it up, was the reviewer where I read that, wrong? Maybe I should buy it, but I have not finished the base game yet, trying to climb the last peak now :'-( fell off just before, I was way, way up there, ended up stuck on some side bit without any holds anywhere, and it broke my heart that I had no choice but to jump and try again, starting from the bottom.
history sheep 9 Feb @ 1:42am
will there ever be an updated version of this or will it just stay an ivory granite forever?
MiniAR  [author] 31 Jan @ 6:07pm
I honestly forgot about this guide so ill try and update it fully when possible. I made some small revisions but I cant find a better way to word it.
Paycho 31 Jan @ 3:02pm
I think for the third item in the castle the important bit is that you should cross the roof of the castle and reach the balconies on the opposite side of the castle from where you start (the same side of the castle as the tree-branch path you mention), at least I think that's the spot you're describing (I haven't found that idol piece). I don't think the instructions saying to "go left" or "swing left" are legible, especially since they'll change based on your orientation. If you can rewrite things based on the direction of landmarks in the level I think it'll be much clearer.
